Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Coway Airmega 150 is a compact air purifier that sits on the floor and cleans the air in one room. It pulls air through three layers. First a washable pre-filter catches hair, dust and larger bits. Then a deodorization filter reduces smells and gases. Last, a Green True HEPA filter traps fine particles down to 0.01 microns, which covers most of the dust, pollen and smoke you get in Dubai. Coway rates it for rooms up to 96 square metres, so it suits a bedroom, a study or a small-to-medium living room. A built-in PM2.5 sensor reads the air and shows the result with a four-colour light. In Auto mode the fan speeds up when the air gets dirty and slows down as it clears. Sleep mode dims the light and runs the fan at its quietest, around 20 dB, so it will not keep you awake. It suits villa and apartment owners, and renters too, because there is nothing to install. You plug it in and switch it on. One honest limit: there is no Wi-Fi, no app and no Alexa or Google control. You run it from the buttons on top. If you want phone control or a smart-home link, this is not the model for you. If you just want clean air in one room with very little fuss, it does that well, and it comes with a five-year warranty.

  • Three-stage filtration with a washable pre-filter and Green True HEPA down to 0.01 microns.
  • Auto mode reads the air with a PM2.5 sensor and sets the fan speed for you.
  • Sleep mode runs at about 20 dB, quiet enough for a Dubai bedroom overnight.
  • No install and no app needed. Plug into any Type-G socket and switch it on.

What to check before you order

Dubai air carries a lot of fine dust, and it gets worse during shamal winds and nearby building work. A HEPA purifier like this one helps in bedrooms where you sleep with the windows shut and the AC running. The washable pre-filter is handy here. Dust builds up fast, so being able to slide it out and rinse it under the tap saves you buying replacements as often. Rinse it, hang it to dry, then put it back. The unit runs on 220 to 240V and comes with a standard three-pin Type-G plug, so it fits UAE sockets with no adapter. At 35W it costs very little to run, even left on all day through summer. Because there is no Wi-Fi, patchy villa Wi-Fi reach is not a concern at all. Coway backs it with a five-year warranty, and both Amazon.ae and noon list it locally, so getting a spare filter or a replacement is straightforward.

Questions about the Coway Airmega 150 Air Purifier

What exactly is the Coway Airmega 150?
Chevron down icon
It is a freestanding air purifier for a single room, model number AP-1019C. It draws air through a washable pre-filter, a deodorization filter and a Green True HEPA filter, then pushes clean air back out. It runs on mains power and is controlled by buttons on top, with no app.

Is the Airmega 150 right for an apartment?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It is sized for one room and works well in an apartment bedroom, study or a small-to-medium living room. Put it where you spend the most time. For a large open-plan flat you may want one unit per zone, or a bigger model.

Will it cover a large villa living room?
Chevron down icon
It is rated up to 96 square metres, which suits most bedrooms and mid-sized living rooms. A big double-height villa majlis is beyond one unit's comfortable range. For spaces like that, run two units or choose a higher-capacity purifier such as the Coway Airmega Mighty.

Does it need Wi-Fi or the internet?
Chevron down icon
No. The Airmega 150 has no Wi-Fi at all and works completely offline. You plug it in, press the button and it runs. That also means nothing to set up, no account to make, and no worry about your villa Wi-Fi reaching a far bedroom.

Is there an app to control it?
Chevron down icon
No, there is no app. Every control is on the unit itself: Auto, three fan speeds, Sleep mode, a timer and a filter-change light. If phone control matters to you, look at a Wi-Fi model instead, such as the Levoit Core 300S or the Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro.

Do I need a hub or a bridge?
Chevron down icon
No hub, bridge or gateway is needed. It is a standalone appliance. Take it out of the box, where the filters are already fitted, remove the wrap from the filters, plug it into a wall socket, and it is ready to run.

Is there any subscription or monthly fee?
Chevron down icon
No. There is nothing to subscribe to. Your only ongoing cost is a replacement filter set every year and a half to two years, plus the small amount of electricity the unit uses each month.

Does it work with Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home?
Chevron down icon
No. The Airmega 150 does not connect to Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, SmartThings or any smart-home system, because it has no wireless radio. You could put it on a smart plug for on and off control, but you would not get fan speed or Auto mode that way.

How well does it handle Dubai dust?
Chevron down icon
Very well for a room its size. The washable pre-filter grabs the coarse dust that Dubai homes collect quickly, and the HEPA filter catches fine particles down to 0.01 microns. During shamal dust storms, run it on Auto or a higher speed and keep your windows shut.

Will the UAE summer heat affect it?
Chevron down icon
No. It sits indoors in air-conditioned rooms, so heat is not an issue for it. Keep it out of direct sun near a window, and leave a little space around the air intake and the outlet so the airflow is not blocked.

What plug does it use? Will it fit UAE sockets?
Chevron down icon
It runs on 220 to 240V and comes with a standard three-pin Type-G plug, the same as UAE wall sockets. No adapter or voltage converter is needed. You just plug it straight into the wall and switch it on.

How much does it add to my DEWA bill?
Chevron down icon
Very little. It draws 35W, less than a couple of light bulbs. Even running on Auto for long stretches through summer, the cost is small. Sleep mode uses even less, because the fan runs at its lowest speed overnight.

Who sets it up? Is installation hard?
Chevron down icon
There is no installation. The filters arrive pre-fitted from the factory. You remove the plastic wrap from the filters, drop them back in, plug the unit into a socket, then press power. It takes a couple of minutes and needs no tools or technician.

Is it noisy? Can I sleep with it running?
Chevron down icon
On Sleep mode it runs at about 20 dB, quieter than a whisper, and the display dims so it will not light up your room. On the top fan speed it is more noticeable, like a small fan, but you would use that setting during the day, not overnight.

How often do the filters need changing and what do they cost?
Chevron down icon
The HEPA and deodorization set lasts up to 8,500 hours, roughly one and a half to two years in normal use. The pre-filter is washable, so you never replace that one. Ask us for a genuine Coway replacement set and today's price when the filter light comes on.

Can I really wash the filter?
Chevron down icon
Yes, the pre-filter is washable, which is unusual and genuinely useful. Slide it out, rinse it under the tap, hang it to dry fully, then put it back. In dusty Dubai homes, doing this every couple of weeks keeps airflow strong and helps the HEPA filter last longer.

Does it get rid of smells and cooking odours?
Chevron down icon
Yes, to a good degree. The deodorization filter reduces everyday smells, cooking odours and common gases like VOCs and ammonia. It helps with smoke lingering in a room too, though very heavy or constant smoke is a lot to ask of any compact purifier.

Does it help with allergies and dust sensitivity?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It captures 99.97% of allergens and 99.999% of particles down to 0.01 microns, and it is ECARF-certified in Germany for allergy sufferers. For hay fever, dust or pet dander in a Dubai bedroom, running it on Auto overnight makes a real difference for many people.

What is the warranty and is there support in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
It comes with a five-year manufacturer warranty, which is long for an air purifier. Because it sells widely on Amazon.ae and noon, spares and replacement filters are easy to get locally. Keep your invoice for any warranty claim, and talk to us if you need help sorting one out.

How do I buy it from you and what does it cost?
Chevron down icon
The current UAE market price is around AED 735 (list price AED 799). Tell us the room and we will confirm today's price, stock and delivery across Dubai and the UAE. We can also supply matching genuine replacement filters so you are set for the next couple of years.

How does it compare to the Coway Airmega Mighty?
Chevron down icon
The Mighty is the bigger brother, built for larger rooms and higher airflow. The 150 is more compact and better suited to a bedroom or a smaller living room. If your space is under about 96 square metres, the 150 is enough. For a large villa area, the Mighty fits better.

How does it compare to a Wi-Fi purifier like the Levoit Core 300S?
Chevron down icon
The Levoit Core 300S and Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro add app and voice control, which the Airmega 150 does not have. What the Coway gives you is a washable pre-filter, a five-year warranty and a strong true-HEPA setup. Pick on whether smart control or simple, solid filtration matters more to you.

Who should not buy the Airmega 150?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you want app or voice control, home automation, or one unit to clean a whole floor. It has no Wi-Fi and covers a single room. If you need smart features, look at the Levoit Core 300S or Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro. For very large spaces, choose a bigger purifier.
