Dubai Smart Home installs home automation in DIFC apartments and penthouses, in towers such as Index Tower, Central Park Towers, Burj Daman and Limestone House. The usual work is fan coil thermostats for Empower cooling, motorised blinds for floor-to-ceiling glass, smart locks and Wi-Fi. DIFC, the Dubai International Financial Centre, is a business district first. Around its offices sit a handful of residential towers: Index Tower, Central Park Towers, Burj Daman, Limestone House, Liberty House, Park Towers and Sky Gardens. Most were finished between 2009 and 2014, most are all glass on the outside, and most are cooled by Empower, which ran its very first plant here. Smart home installation in DIFC means working inside those towers, one apartment at a time.
The people living here shape the brief. Residents are mostly finance and legal professionals who work long hours and travel often, and many towers are quiet at weekends. So the useful things are practical: a flat that is cool when you walk in, blinds that close before the afternoon sun, a lock you can open for a cleaner from an airport lounge, and alerts if a leak starts while nobody is home.
DIFC towers are sold on their Burj Khalifa views, which means full-height glass. The sun on that glass pushes up the Empower consumption charge. Motorised blinds that close on a schedule keep the room cooler, so the fan coil runs less.
Empower began with a temporary plant in DIFC, and the towers here run on chilled water through fan coil units. A thermostat made for split AC or a US furnace will not work. We fit fan coil thermostats with schedules and an away mode.
DIFC runs its own approval process on top of your building’s. Depending on the work, you may need a building management NOC, a DIFC property development NOC and an access permit for the contractor. We check what applies and file it.
Some DIFC towers, Limestone House among them, have sealed windows. The AC and fan coil are your only control over temperature and fresh air, so good thermostat settings and air quality sensors matter more here than in most areas.
Many residents leave early, come back late and travel for work. Schedules pre-cool the flat before you get home, away mode saves cooling while you are gone, and the lock log shows every time the door opened.
With many neighbours away on Friday evenings and weekends, a slow leak can go unnoticed for days. Leak sensors under sinks and fan coil trays alert your phone, and a smart valve can shut the water off.
