Does it need Wi-Fi to work?

Yes. The Beam joins your home Wi-Fi (or a wired Ethernet connection) and is controlled through the Sonos app. TV sound still plays through the HDMI cable if the internet drops, but music streaming, voice control and app control all rely on your network.

Do I need a separate hub or Sonos Bridge?

No. The Beam has no subscription fee, and you control it with the free Sonos app. If you want to stream from Spotify, Apple Music or similar, you pay those services separately, but that is your choice and not required to use the soundbar for TV sound.

The free Sonos app for iPhone and Android. You use it for setup, volume, EQ, grouping speakers, and adding music services. On iPhone the app also runs Trueplay, which tunes the sound to your room. Everyday volume changes can also use your normal TV remote.

Does it work with Amazon Alexa?

Yes. Alexa is built into the Beam, with far-field microphones for hands-free voice commands. You can ask it to play music, check the weather or control other smart devices. There is a physical mic switch on the bar if you prefer to turn the microphones off.

An optical audio adapter is included in the box for exactly this. It plugs into your TV's optical output and then into the Beam's HDMI socket. Most TVs sold in the UAE in recent years have ARC, but the adapter covers older sets you may still have.

Does it really do Dolby Atmos?

It supports Dolby Atmos, but through software processing, not upward-firing drivers. So you get a wider, taller sense of sound rather than true overhead height effects. For a bar this size that is a fair result. If you want stronger height, the larger Arc Ultra has dedicated up-firing drivers.

Will it cope with Dubai summer heat?

Yes, as an indoor device in a normal air-conditioned room. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from windows where the afternoon sun hits. Do not sit it inside a sealed, unventilated cabinet. In everyday Dubai indoor conditions it runs cool and needs no special care.

Dust is the bigger local issue, not heat. Fine dust settles on the fabric grille over time. Give it a light dusting or a gentle vacuum on low every few weeks, especially during shamal winds. Avoid sprays and liquids on the grille. That is all the upkeep it really needs.
