Overview

What it is and where it fits

The LIFX Color A19 is a smart LED bulb that screws into a standard light fitting and connects straight to your home Wi-Fi. There is no hub or bridge to buy. You add it in the LIFX app in under two minutes, then control it from your phone or with your voice. It is the brightest bulb in the standard LIFX A19 range. At 1100 lumens it matches a 75W old-style bulb while drawing only 11W, so it stays cool and cheap to run. The RGBW LEDs give you billions of colours, plus a white range from a warm 1500K to a crisp 9000K. Dimming runs from 1 to 100 percent in the app or by voice. It works natively with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Home with Siri, so it fits whichever assistant you already use. The version sold on Amazon.ae and noon.com is the classic non-Matter model. A separate Matter bulb exists on the LIFX site, but that is a different SKU. Who is it for in Dubai? Renters like it because nothing is wired in, you just swap the bulb and take it with you when you move. Villa and apartment owners use it in living rooms, bedrooms and the majlis for colour scenes and easy dimming. The honest limit is Wi-Fi. Each bulb joins your 2.4GHz network, so a large villa with many bulbs needs strong coverage in every room.

  • No hub needed, connects straight to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and sets up in under two minutes

  • Billions of colours plus warm-to-cool white from 1500K to 9000K

What to check before you order

UAE homes run on 220-240V and Type-G plugs, and this bulb is rated for that supply, so it works out of the box in any standard ceiling or lamp fitting. The base is E26, which threads into the E27 sockets used across the UAE. Summer heat and dust matter for lighting. LED bulbs like this run far cooler than old halogen or filament bulbs, so they cope better in a hot room and add less load on your air conditioning. Keep it in enclosed or covered indoor fixtures, since it is not an outdoor or bathroom-rated bulb. Wi-Fi reach is the main thing to plan in a villa. Each bulb needs a steady 2.4GHz signal, so check coverage in far bedrooms and upstairs rooms before buying a lot of them. Warranty is two years through Feit Electric, LIFX's parent company. Buy through us and we handle setup and any warranty follow-up locally.

Questions about the LIFX Color A19 Smart Bulb (1100lm)

What exactly is the LIFX Color A19?
Chevron down icon
It is a smart LED bulb that screws into a normal light fitting and joins your home Wi-Fi. You control brightness and colour from the LIFX app or by voice. It gives 1100 lumens of light and billions of colours, and it needs no hub or bridge to work.

Do I need a hub or bridge to use it?
Chevron down icon
No. This is one of the main reasons people pick LIFX. The bulb talks directly to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, so there is nothing extra to plug into your router. The box holds only the bulbs and a quick-start guide, because no hub is needed.

Does it need Wi-Fi, or can it run without internet?
Chevron down icon
It needs your home Wi-Fi to reach the app and voice assistants. Basic on and off still works from the wall switch. For full app and voice control, and for control while you are away from home, a working internet connection is needed.

Which app do I use to control it?
Chevron down icon
The free LIFX app on iPhone or Android. You use it to set up the bulb, pick colours and whites, build scenes, group rooms and set schedules. After that you can also control the bulb with Alexa, Google Assistant or Apple Home if you prefer voice.

Is there a monthly subscription?
Chevron down icon
No. The LIFX app and all its features are free. There is no monthly fee, no cloud plan and no paywall for colours, scenes or schedules. You pay once for the bulb and that is it.

Is this a good fit for a Dubai apartment?
Chevron down icon
Yes. In an apartment your router is usually close to every room, so Wi-Fi coverage is rarely a problem. Swap it into a living room, bedroom or lamp and you get colour, dimming and voice control with no wiring work, which suits tenants well.

Does it suit a large villa?
Chevron down icon
It can, with one thing to plan. Each bulb needs its own steady 2.4GHz signal. In a big villa the far bedrooms or upstairs rooms may have weak Wi-Fi, so check coverage there first. Mesh Wi-Fi helps if you plan to fit many bulbs across the house.

I am renting. Can I take it with me when I move?
Chevron down icon
Yes, and that is a big reason renters like it. Nothing is wired in. You unscrew your old bulb, screw this one in, and remove it the same way when you leave. Reset it in the app and set it up again at your new place.

Does it work with Amazon Alexa?
Chevron down icon
Yes, natively. Link the LIFX skill in the Alexa app once, then use an Echo or the Alexa app to turn the bulb on or off, dim it, or change colour by voice. You can also add it to Alexa routines with your other smart devices.

Does it work with Google Assistant?
Chevron down icon
Yes. Connect LIFX in the Google Home app, then control the bulb by voice through a Nest speaker or your phone. You can group it with other lights and add it to Google routines, for example a morning scene that turns lights on at a set time.

Does it work with Apple Home and Siri?
Chevron down icon
Yes. This classic LIFX Color A19 supports Apple HomeKit, so you can add it in the Apple Home app and control it with Siri. iPhone users can include it in Home automations and scenes alongside other HomeKit accessories.

Is this the new Matter version?
Chevron down icon
No. The bulb sold on Amazon.ae and noon.com is the classic non-Matter model that works with Alexa, Google and Apple Home directly. A separate Matter-enabled LIFX bulb exists on the LIFX website, but it is a different product and not the one listed by UAE sellers.

Will it fit UAE light sockets?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It has an E26 Edison screw base in an A19 shape, which threads into the E27 screw sockets used across the UAE. If your fitting takes a normal screw-in bulb, this one fits. It will not fit bayonet or small-cap fittings.

Does it work on UAE 220-240V power?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The bulb is rated for the 220-240V supply used in the UAE, so it works straight away in local fittings. There is no plug to worry about, since it screws into the socket. No adapter or voltage converter is needed.

How bright is 1100 lumens in real terms?
Chevron down icon
It is bright. 1100 lumens is close to an old 75W incandescent bulb, and it is the brightest in the standard LIFX A19 range. That is enough for a main ceiling light in a bedroom or a living-room lamp, and you can dim it down when you want softer light.

How much does it cost to run?
Chevron down icon
Very little. It draws 11W at full brightness, far less than the old 75W bulb it replaces. Running it a few hours a day adds only a small amount to your DEWA bill, and dimming it lowers the draw further. LED bulbs are among the cheapest lights to run.

How does it cope with Dubai summer heat?
Chevron down icon
LED bulbs run much cooler than old halogen or filament types, so they handle a hot room better and add less heat for your AC to remove. Keep it in a fitting with some airflow rather than a fully sealed one, and avoid direct outdoor exposure, and it will last well indoors.

Can I use it outdoors or in a bathroom?
Chevron down icon
No. This is an indoor bulb and is not rated for wet or dusty outdoor use. Keep it away from open bathrooms, balconies and garden fittings that catch rain or direct sun. For those spots you need a bulb or fixture with a proper outdoor or damp rating.

How many colours and whites does it have?
Chevron down icon
Billions. The RGBW LEDs mix full colour, so you can set almost any shade for scenes and mood lighting. It also does white light across a wide range, from a warm 1500K glow to a cool 9000K daylight, which covers relaxing evenings and bright task lighting.

Can I dim it, and how?
Chevron down icon
Yes, from 1 to 100 percent. You dim it in the LIFX app with a slider, or by voice through Alexa, Google or Siri, for example asking to set the light to 30 percent. You do not need a separate dimmer switch on the wall, and a normal wall dimmer is not recommended with it.

How do I install it, and can you set it up?
Chevron down icon
Installation is easy. Turn off the light, screw the bulb in like any other, switch on, then add it in the LIFX app. It takes a couple of minutes. If you would rather not do it, our team can install the bulbs, link your voice assistant and build your first scenes.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
The bulb carries a two-year warranty through Feit Electric, LIFX's parent company. Buy it through us and we handle the setup and any warranty claim locally, so you are not chasing an overseas seller. Keep your invoice, as it is needed for any warranty follow-up.

How does it compare to Philips Hue?
Chevron down icon
Hue is very reliable but usually works best with a Hue Bridge, which is an extra box and cost. LIFX skips the hub and runs on Wi-Fi alone, and this bulb is brighter at 1100 lumens. Hue offers a wider range of lamps and fittings if you want to grow a big system.

How does it compare to WiZ or Govee?
Chevron down icon
WiZ and Govee bulbs are cheaper and also hub-free on Wi-Fi, and they are fine for casual use. LIFX costs more but is brighter and known for stronger, more accurate colour. If budget is the priority, look at WiZ or Govee. For the brightest colour bulb, LIFX is the pick.

Who should not buy this bulb?
Chevron down icon
If you want a hub-based system with many lamp shapes, Philips Hue may suit you better. If you are on a tight budget, WiZ or Govee cost less. And if your Wi-Fi is weak in the room where you need the bulb, fix the coverage first or the bulb will keep dropping offline.

Does it come as a single bulb or a pack?
Chevron down icon
In the UAE it is sold mainly as a 2-pack. The box holds two bulbs and a quick-start guide, with no hub because none is needed. If you only want one, ask us and we will tell you the best current option for a single bulb.

What does it cost and how do I buy it from you?
Chevron down icon
The best confirmed UAE price is AED 221 for the 2-pack on Amazon.ae. Prices move, so message us for today's price, stock and delivery across Dubai and the UAE. We can also set the bulbs up and link them to your voice assistant if you want that done for you.

Will lots of these bulbs slow my Wi-Fi?
Chevron down icon
Each bulb takes one connection on your 2.4GHz network, so fitting many across a villa adds up. A normal router handles a handful without trouble. For a large setup, a mesh Wi-Fi system gives every bulb a steady signal and keeps your other devices running smoothly.
