Overview

What it is and where it fits

This is a low-cost Matter hub with a narrow job: it carries Meross's own low-power sensors and thermostatic valves and bridges them into Apple Home, Alexa, Google and SmartThings simultaneously. At this price it is the least expensive route to a hub that speaks Matter, and for a household already running Meross plugs and switches it removes the need to keep a separate app open for the sensor side. What it is not is a general purpose hub. It does not carry Zigbee devices from Aqara or anyone else, it has no infrared and no siren, and there is no ethernet port. Automations are cloud-assisted, so a connection drop takes remote access with it, though devices bridged into Apple Home continue responding locally. It makes sense if you own Meross hardware and want it in the same app as everything else. It is the wrong pick as the foundation of a villa system, because a foundation hub needs a device ceiling, a wired connection and local automation, and this has none of the three. Its value is being cheap and specific rather than being the hub the house is built on.

  • Lowest cost hub in the range that speaks Matter
  • Puts Meross sensors into four ecosystems at once
  • Removes the need for a separate app for Meross sub-devices
  • Small and cheap enough to add to an existing setup

What to check before you order

Treat this as an accessory to a Meross setup rather than the hub a Dubai villa is built on. It is Wi-Fi only with no wired option, so in a villa with a mesh network it inherits every weakness of that mesh, and there is no infrared for split AC control. For an apartment already running Meross plugs and switches where the only goal is bringing a few sensors into Apple Home, it does that job at the lowest price in this category. For a villa with several rooms of devices, spend the extra on a Zigbee hub with ethernet and a real device ceiling, because replacing a foundation hub later means re-pairing every device in the house.

Questions about the Meross Smart Matter Wi-Fi Hub

Can it control Aqara or SwitchBot devices?

No. It carries Meross's own sub-devices and nothing else. Matter lets other platforms see those devices, but it does not let this hub adopt hardware from other brands. Each brand's own devices still need that brand's hub.

Is it good enough as my only hub?
Chevron down icon
In a small apartment running Meross hardware, yes. In a villa, no. A hub for a villa needs a wired connection, a device ceiling in the hundreds and automations that run locally, and this has none of those. Choosing the wrong hub is expensive later, because moving to another one means re-pairing every device.

Does it need internet to work?

For remote access and Meross app automations, yes. Devices bridged through Matter into Apple Home or another controller keep responding on the local network while the connection is down, which is one of the practical benefits of Matter over an older cloud-only bridge.

We supply this as part of a working system rather than as a box. That means checking it suits your property first, fitting it properly, setting up the automations that make it useful, and showing your household how it works.
