The M100 is the sensible entry hub for a Dubai apartment: it costs the same as the E1 dongle but sits as a standalone unit you can place where the Zigbee coverage needs to be, and it acts as a Matter bridge so Aqara sensors appear natively in Apple Home, Alexa, Google and SmartThings. Zigbee capacity is well past the E1, which matters because device counts always grow. Automations you build in the Aqara app run on the hub itself, so a motion-triggered light or a curtain schedule keeps working when the building internet drops, which in this city happens more often than anyone admits. Matter bridging is the reason to pick this over the older E1. Without it, Aqara devices reach other platforms through a cloud connection that adds delay and breaks when a service has a bad day. With it, your sensors are local objects in whichever app the household actually uses. There is no infrared and no siren here, so split ACs and alarm chimes need other hardware. For a flat that will stay a flat, this is where to start.

This is the hub we specify most for Dubai apartments. Position it centrally rather than beside the router, because Zigbee coverage radiates from the hub and apartment layouts here are often long and narrow with a service core in the middle. It runs on Wi-Fi only, so if your building suffers from congested 2.4GHz, be aware there is no ethernet fallback: that is the argument for the M2 instead. One hub per property, not per room. Split AC control is not included, since there is no infrared emitter on this model.
