Most people buy a Hub Mini for one reason: they own a SwitchBot curtain motor, lock or bot that only speaks Bluetooth, and they want to use it from outside the house. That is exactly what this does. It bridges SwitchBot's Bluetooth devices to the internet so they work remotely, respond to schedules and answer to Alexa or Google. The second job is infrared. It learns split AC and TV remotes and turns them into app controls, which for a two-remote living room is a reasonable use of a small budget. Know its limits before buying. There is no display, no temperature sensor, and no Matter bridging on this model, so it will not put SwitchBot devices into Apple Home. It runs on Wi-Fi with a USB cable, and its infrared needs line of sight to whatever it is controlling, which means one per room where ACs are concerned rather than one per house. If you want the Apple Home route or a wall display of temperature, the Hub 2 is the model to look at. If the goal is simply making a Bluetooth curtain motor usable from the office, this is enough.

The infrared side is where this earns its place in a Dubai home. A split AC controlled by handset alone cannot be put on a schedule, and this bridge turns it into something you can cool before you get home from work. It needs line of sight to the AC unit, so a villa with four ACs in four rooms needs a bridge in each of those rooms rather than one central unit. Everything runs through the SwitchBot cloud, which means an internet outage takes remote control and schedules with it: for lighting and curtains you want to keep running through a drop, a local Zigbee hub is the better foundation and this sits alongside it for the infrared work.
