Villas and apartments here run wall-mounted split units or fan-coil units fed from a chilled water loop, and neither speaks the language an ecobee expects. A wired conversion adapter sits between the two: Dropair Mini6 or Mini6s covers Samsung, LG, Gree, Midea, Daikin and Carrier, while O'General equipment, which is very common in older Dubai villa stock, needs the Fujitsu UTY-TTRX. That adds AED 600 to 800 in hardware plus install labour, and it is wiring work at the fan-coil or indoor unit, not a plug-in job.
