If your AC is O'General, this is the adapter, and no Dropair unit substitutes for it. The UTY-TTRX wires in at the indoor unit and converts O'General and Fujitsu equipment to the control scheme an ecobee or Nest wall thermostat expects. That matters more in Dubai than the brand's market share suggests, because O'General was the default fit in a large share of villas built before roughly 2010 and much of that equipment is still running. In those homes this adapter is the part that decides whether a smart thermostat project is possible at all. Installation is wiring work at the indoor unit with the circuit isolated, and one adapter is required per controlled zone, so a villa with four O'General fan coils needs four. It has no app and no ecosystem of its own: once fitted, everything happens through the thermostat. Where the AC is a wall-mounted O'General split with a handheld remote, an infrared controller avoids the wiring entirely.

O'General has been one of the most heavily installed AC brands in the UAE for decades, particularly across older Dubai villa stock in areas such as Jumeirah, Al Barsha and Mirdif, and much of that equipment has never been replaced. In those properties this adapter is the deciding item: without it an ecobee or Nest is just a display on the wall. It is wired at the indoor unit on the 220-240V system with the circuit isolated, and each controlled zone needs its own. Villas that have had ACs replaced room by room can end up with O'General on one floor and Gree or Midea on another, which means a Fujitsu adapter in one zone and a Dropair in the next. We identify each unit during the survey for exactly this reason.
Fujitsu in the UAE. Supplied through the HVAC trade. The UTY-TTRX adapter is the specific part needed to put a smart thermostat on an O'General system, which is common in older Dubai villas.
