Overview

What it is and where it fits

For most Dubai homes this is the correct first piece of climate hardware. A small infrared controller mounts opposite the indoor unit, learns your existing AC remote, and brings the machine into an app. It needs no wiring and no electrician. Sensibo Air works with any split, window or portable unit that came with an infrared remote, which covers effectively the whole UAE residential market, and it reads room temperature and humidity itself rather than trusting the sensor buried inside the indoor unit. The feature that matters in a Dubai summer is Climate React: you set a temperature or humidity threshold and the controller runs the AC to hold it, so a bedroom stops swinging between 19 and 26 degrees overnight. Geofencing shuts units down when the last person leaves the villa, which is where the real saving sits, because the usual waste here is a bedroom AC left running all day at 18 degrees. One controller covers one indoor unit, so a four bedroom villa needs four. Budget accordingly rather than assuming one device does the house.

  • Fits in ten minutes with no electrician and no wiring change
  • Holds a set temperature and humidity instead of drifting overnight
  • Shuts the AC down when the house empties
  • Every AC in the villa appears in one app

What to check before you order

This is the default recommendation for Dubai apartments and villas running wall-mounted split units, which is the majority of the residential stock. It plugs into a standard Type-G socket on 220-240V mains and needs line of sight to the indoor unit, so mount it on the facing wall rather than tucked behind a wardrobe. Because it copies the remote, brand does not matter: Daikin, LG, Gree, Midea, O'General and Carrier all behave the same way to an infrared controller. Ducted and fan-coil systems that run off a wall thermostat with no handheld remote cannot use this, and those need a wall thermostat with a conversion adapter instead. In a villa, count the indoor units before ordering, and remember the maid's room and majlis, which are the two most commonly forgotten and the two most often left running.

Sensibo in the UAE. Stocked by UAE online retailers. Like tado°, it bridges to your existing AC remote rather than your AC wiring.

Questions about the Sensibo Air

Will Sensibo work with my AC brand?
Chevron down icon
If the unit came with a handheld infrared remote, yes. Sensibo learns the remote rather than the machine, so Daikin, LG, Gree, Midea, O'General, Carrier and the rest all work. The exception is a ducted or fan-coil system controlled by a wall thermostat with no remote, which needs a wall thermostat and adapter instead.

Do I need one for every AC?
Chevron down icon
Yes. Each indoor unit has its own remote, so each needs its own controller. A typical three bedroom Dubai apartment needs three or four. They all sit in the same app and can be grouped, so the running experience is still one screen for the whole home.

Does it actually reduce the DEWA bill?
Chevron down icon
It reduces run hours, which is what the bill responds to. The savings come from the AC not running in an empty villa and not overshooting a comfortable set point at night. If your household already switches units off diligently, expect less. If bedroom ACs currently run all day at 18 degrees, the difference is large.
