Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Lenovo F3 is the solar-assisted palm vein smart lock to choose in this push-pull range when your Dubai front door gets real daylight, because it is the only one that tops up its own battery from light. It suits villa owners who want palm vein and face entry without regular charging. A radar sensor wakes the lock as you walk up. You then show your face to the camera or hold your palm over the reader, which checks the vein pattern under the skin, and push the handle. Fingerprint, PIN code, card and a mechanical key are there as backups. A solar strip on the panel feeds the 5000mAh battery whenever the light on the door passes 5000 lux. When someone rings, the call reaches the Tuya Smart Life app with live video, so you can talk and open from your phone. What else you need: Wi-Fi that reaches the door, a door between 40 and 100 mm thick, and a mortise cut-out that suits the lock body. Lenovo's sheet lists the mortise two different ways, so we confirm which body ships before you pay. The 70°C rating covers a sunny villa porch. The honest limit is location. Inside a tower corridor the solar strip does very little, so an apartment owner pays extra for a feature that will not help, and fire-rated entrance doors need building approval first. For a shaded or indoor door, the X6F or A6F gives better value.

  • Solar strip tops up the battery whenever the door gets good daylight
  • Palm vein and 3D face entry, with room for 100 of each
  • Two cameras and a 5-inch indoor screen show who is outside
  • Works with the Smart Life app plus Alexa, Google and Siri

What to check before you order

Most villa main doors in Dubai take a European mortise lock body, and the F3 is made for that kind of door. Before you order, we measure the door thickness, the existing cut-out and the gap at the frame, then confirm with the supplier which mortise body comes in the box. A west-facing door in July is well inside the 70°C rating, though a dark panel in afternoon sun runs hotter than the air, so a porch roof still helps the screen and battery age slowly. Dust settles on the solar strip fast here, and a dusty strip charges less, so add it to the weekly wipe. During a DEWA power cut the lock carries on from its battery; only app access drops until the router is back. Apartment buyers should clear two things first: landlord consent and the building's rules on fire-rated entrance doors.

Lenovo in the UAE. Lenovo-branded smart locks and cameras are made by Yunka Intelligent (Shenzhen) under licence as part of Lenovo's smart-device ecosystem, rather than by Lenovo's computer business. Most of the locks run on the Tuya / Smart Life app, while the cameras use the cam720 app. UAE availability is patchy: a few models are stocked by specialist smart-lock retailers and many are sourced to order, so we confirm the exact model, lock body and lead time before quoting.

Questions about the Lenovo F3 Palm Vein Smart Lock

What is the Lenovo F3 smart lock?
Chevron down icon
The Lenovo F3 is a push-pull smart lock for front doors that opens with your palm vein, face, fingerprint, PIN code, card, app or a mechanical key. Its standout feature is a solar strip that charges the battery from daylight, plus two cameras and a 5-inch screen on the inside panel for video calls.

How much does the Lenovo F3 smart lock cost in Dubai?
Chevron down icon
The Lenovo F3 is AED 2,850 as a supply price for the lock. Installation and lead time are confirmed when we quote, after we have looked at your door. Send us a photo of the door edge and your current lock, and we come back with the full figure.

How does solar charging work on the Lenovo F3 smart lock?
Chevron down icon
A replaceable solar panel on the lock charges the 5000mAh battery whenever the light on it is above 5000 lux. Bright daylight on an open porch easily passes that level, so the battery is topped up through the day. On a dim door the lock simply runs on its battery and you charge it like any other model.

Does the Lenovo F3 solar panel work inside an apartment corridor?
Chevron down icon
Very little, in most cases. Tower corridors are lit far below 5000 lux, so the strip rarely reaches the level it needs and the battery is charged by hand instead. If your door faces an indoor corridor, the X6F gives you palm vein and face entry without the solar premium, and the A6F covers face entry for less.

Will the Lenovo F3 fit my front door?
Chevron down icon
It fits doors between 40 and 100 mm thick that can take a mortise lock body. Most Dubai villa and apartment main doors already use European mortise bodies, so the question is usually whether the existing cut-out matches. We measure the door and check the cut-out before you order anything.

Which mortise body does the F3 use?
Chevron down icon
That is confirmed with the supplier before ordering. Lenovo's own catalogue page lists a mechanical or semi-auto mortise in the spec table but draws a full-auto 6068 or 7068 body beside it. Rather than guess, we check which version is shipping and match it to your door cut-out.

Is the F3 a better fit for a villa or an apartment?
Chevron down icon
A villa with a bright, open entrance gets the most from the F3, because that is where the solar strip actually charges. Apartments can use it too, but a corridor door gains little from solar and often sits on a fire-rated frame with building rules attached. For most flats a sibling makes more sense.

Can a tenant fit the Lenovo F3?
Chevron down icon
Only with written landlord approval, since changing the main lock alters the door. Many Dubai tenancy contracts require consent for this. Keep the original lock safe so it can go back at move-out. If the door needs a larger mortise cut, the landlord should agree to that change specifically.

How do the app and remote unlocking work on the F3?
Chevron down icon
The F3 connects to home Wi-Fi and runs on the Tuya Smart Life app for iPhone and Android. When a visitor rings, you get a video call on your phone, can speak to them and open the door remotely. The app also handles temporary codes, user management and alerts.

Does the Lenovo F3 work with Alexa, Google or Siri?
Chevron down icon
Yes, Lenovo lists Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri voice control for the F3, which is unusual in this range. The voice link runs through the Smart Life app. When we set up the app, we connect the assistant you use and show you which commands work for your account.

What happens to the F3 in a power cut or when the battery runs low?
Chevron down icon
A DEWA power cut does not stop the lock, because it runs on its own battery. Your face, palm, code and card keep working; only the app connection waits for the router. The lock gives a low battery alarm well before it runs flat, and the mechanical key is the final backup.

Can the Lenovo F3 handle Dubai summer heat on a sun-facing door?
Chevron down icon
Yes, on paper it can. The F3 is rated from -25 to 70°C, well above the 45 to 50°C air temperatures of a Dubai summer. A dark panel in direct afternoon sun gets hotter than the air, though, so a canopy or porch roof still helps the screen and battery last longer.

How many people can use the Lenovo F3?
Chevron down icon
The F3 stores up to 100 palm veins, 100 faces and 100 cards. Codes are split into one admin code and 49 user codes. That is plenty for a large family plus staff. Fingerprint capacity is quoted differently by different sources, so we confirm the number at setup rather than promise one.

How do I give access to a maid, driver or guest with the F3?
Chevron down icon
Enrol regular staff with their palm or face so nothing can be lost or copied. For a guest or a one-off visit, send a temporary code from the app. Drivers who come and go all day can carry a card, which you can delete in the app if it goes missing.

How secure is the Lenovo F3?
Chevron down icon
It has a hidden password mode, so you can type extra digits around your real code when someone is watching. Alarms cover tampering, wrong code attempts, abnormal movement at the door and low battery. Inside there is a security knob and a child lock, and you can require two credentials together.

Is palm vein better than fingerprint for a Dubai household?
Chevron down icon
For many homes, yes. Palm vein reads the vein pattern under the skin, so dry, cut or worn fingertips matter less, which helps cooks, cleaners, gardeners and older family members. Keep fingerprint and face enrolled as well, so everyone has a second way in.

Does the Lenovo F3 have a video doorbell?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The F3 has a remote video intercom, so a doorbell press opens a live call on your phone through the Smart Life app. Inside, the 5-inch screen shows the caller too. The radar sensor wakes the lock as someone approaches, so the camera is ready when they reach the door.

How long does fitting the F3 take and what do you check first?
Chevron down icon
Fitting takes about two hours when the door already has a matching mortise cut, longer if the cut needs enlarging. First we check door thickness, the cut-out size, how the door closes against the frame, the Wi-Fi signal at the door and how much daylight the panel will get.

What warranty and support come with the F3 in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
Warranty terms are confirmed at order, because they depend on the supplier at that time. We set up the app, enrol your family and help with questions after the lock is installed. Firmware updates arrive over the air, and the lock can also be updated through its rear port.

Is the Lenovo F3 actually made by Lenovo?
Chevron down icon
Lenovo-branded smart locks are made by Yunka Intelligent (Shenzhen) under Lenovo's licence, rather than by Lenovo itself. Yunka has run this Lenovo lock line since 2018. In practice the app, parts and updates come through that supply chain, which is why we confirm details with the supplier before quoting.

Should I choose the Lenovo F3 or the X6F?
Chevron down icon
Choose the X6F if your door is shaded or indoors. It has three cameras, including one facing into the home, a 10000mAh battery, a wider 40 to 120 mm door range and a lower price. Choose the F3 if the door gets strong daylight and you want solar top-ups and voice assistants.

Who should not buy the Lenovo F3?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if your door opens onto an indoor corridor, because you would pay for solar that hardly works. It is also a poor match for a fire-rated tower door without building approval, or a door thicker than 100 mm. Buyers on a tight budget get the same core entry methods for less elsewhere.

Is the Lenovo F3 a good smart lock for a holiday home in Dubai?
Chevron down icon
It works well for a villa holiday home with a bright entrance. You send each guest a temporary code from the app, see arrivals on video and avoid handing over keys. The solar strip also reduces the risk of a flat battery between cleaning visits when nobody is around to charge it.

How do I look after the Lenovo F3?
Chevron down icon
Wipe the solar strip, camera window and palm reader with a soft dry cloth every week or two, since Dubai dust cuts charging and slows recognition. Avoid sprays and harsh cleaners on the screen. Keep the app updated, and test the mechanical key every few months so it never sticks when you need it.

Is the Lenovo F3 waterproof?
Chevron down icon
It is rated IP54, which means it resists dust and splashes but is not made to be soaked. Fit it where rain and garden sprinklers do not hit the panel directly, and clean it with a soft dry cloth rather than water or sprays. A dusty solar strip charges less, so add the strip to the weekly wipe.

Does the Lenovo F3 lock automatically when the door closes?
Chevron down icon
That depends on which mortise body ships. Lenovo's own catalogue page lists a mechanical or semi-auto mortise in the F3 spec table but draws a full-auto 6068 or 7068 body beside it. We confirm the version with the supplier before you order and explain at handover exactly what happens when the door shuts.
