The Philips DDL702-FVP is the middle step in the Philips EasyKey face range: a push-pull lock that opens when it recognises your face, with a video door viewer and Wi-Fi built in. It suits a villa or townhouse family that wants hands-free entry and a camera at the door, but does not need palm vein reading or the DDL902 price. Like every EasyKey lock, it is made and warranted by Shenzhen Conex Intelligent Technology under a Philips licence. A radar sensor wakes the lock when someone is within about a metre. Two stereo cameras build a 3D map of your face, so a printed photo will not open it, and infrared lights let it work in the dark. It reads people between 1.3 m and 2 m tall, so young children use fingerprint, PIN or a key tag instead. The latch holds the door, and a motor throws the deadbolt within about 10 seconds of closing. Press the bell and the Home Access app rings your phone for a two-way video call, while a 4-inch screen inside shows the doorstep. Saved video history needs a paid cloud plan. The DDL702-FVP comes with a 311 mortise that has a door-closed sensor and a motorised deadbolt. It replaces the existing DIN or euro-cylinder mortise, so the door edge usually needs re-routing and new holes through the leaf. Conex also lists support for multi-point lock rods, which helps on the steel security doors common in villas, but we confirm the rod layout on site. Doors from 38 to 120 mm thick are covered, in any handing. It is rated from -20°C to 60°C, yet a west-facing door in full sun still wears the battery faster, so shade helps. The camera needs a steady Wi-Fi signal at the main door, and a villa with thick walls or a long entrance may need a mesh point near the door. Tower apartment doors are usually fire-rated, so building management approval comes first, and tenants need landlord consent.
