Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Tapo DL110 is a fingerprint and keypad deadbolt from TP-Link with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a rechargeable battery. It is a strong pick for a Dubai home that already has an American-style deadbolt, or a door you own and are happy to drill. It is not a swap for the mortise locks most local doors use. You open it with a fingerprint, a PIN on the touch keypad, the Tapo app, Bluetooth up close, Alexa or Google, or one of two backup keys. The removable 10,000mAh battery charges over USB-C, and TP-Link quotes up to a year per charge. It connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi without a hub, and scheduled codes suit cleaners and drivers. There is even a doorbell button on the keypad. Apple Home and Matter are not supported. Door fit is the real question. A US deadbolt drops into a round hole, 38 or 54 mm wide, drilled through the door face 60 or 70 mm from the edge, on a door 35 to 55 mm thick. A typical Dubai door has a European mortise lock, a rectangular lock case inside the door edge with the lever and key cylinder fixed to it. There is no round hole for the DL110 to sit in, so we inspect the door before we quote. It carries BHMA Grade 2 and an IP65 rating on the outside unit, both good for the price.

  • Fingerprint or PIN entry for up to 100 fingerprints
  • Rechargeable battery with USB-C, no AA cells to buy
  • Scheduled and one-time codes for staff and guests
  • IP65 outside unit handles dust and heavy rain

What to check before you order

The DL110 is an American deadbolt, so the door decides everything. It needs a round hole bored through the door face plus a 25 mm bolt hole in the edge. Most Dubai villa and apartment doors use a European mortise lock instead, where a rectangular lock case sits inside the door edge, so there is nowhere for the DL110 to go. We check the door before quoting. It suits doors that already have a US deadbolt, new solid doors drilled for it, and villa side, garden or annex doors you own that are 35 to 55 mm thick. Fire-rated tower apartment doors must not be drilled, and tenants need written landlord approval. The outside unit is IP65 and rated to 70 C, fine for most villa porches, though shade helps the battery. Wi-Fi must reach the door on 2.4GHz. UAE stock comes from marketplace sellers, so keep your invoice for warranty.

Questions about the Tapo DL110 Smart Wi-Fi Door Lock, Fingerprint Deadbolt

What is the Tapo DL110?
Chevron down icon
The Tapo DL110 is a TP-Link smart deadbolt with a fingerprint reader, touch keypad, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a rechargeable battery. It is managed in the free Tapo app. It replaces an American-style deadbolt, not the European mortise locks fitted to most Dubai doors.

What is the Tapo DL110 price in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
On 13 September 2026 it was AED 584.63 on Amazon.ae, sold by JetSouq and in stock. Other sellers on the same listing charged more, and one was a cross-border reseller we ignore. Installation is priced separately after we check your door.

Will the DL110 fit my Dubai front door?
Chevron down icon
Only if your door is prepared for a US deadbolt. It needs a round hole through the door face and a smaller bolt hole in the edge. Most Dubai doors have a European mortise lock and neither hole. Send us photos of both sides and the door edge, and we will confirm.

What is a US bore in simple terms?
Chevron down icon
It is a round hole, 38 or 54 mm wide, drilled right through the door, set 60 or 70 mm from the edge, plus a 25 mm hole into the edge for the bolt. American doors are made this way. Doors built for European mortise locks are not.

Why do most Dubai doors use mortise locks?
Chevron down icon
UAE door makers and developers mostly follow European and British hardware standards. They fit a mortise lock, where a rectangular lock case sits in a slot cut into the door edge, with the lever handle and euro key cylinder fixed through it. That design leaves no round hole for a US deadbolt.

Can the DL110 go on a door with a mortise lock?
Chevron down icon
Sometimes, by drilling a new round hole above the mortise lock and keeping your lever and latch below. That change is permanent, needs solid timber at that height, and is not allowed on fire-rated doors. For most mortise doors, a mortise fingerprint lock is the tidier solution.

Which UAE doors suit the Tapo DL110?
Chevron down icon
Doors that already carry a US deadbolt, new solid doors being prepared for American hardware, and villa side, garden or annex doors you own. The door must be 35 to 55 mm thick and not fire-rated. Many heavy villa main doors are thicker, so we measure first.

Can I install the DL110 in a rented apartment?
Chevron down icon
Only with the landlord's written permission, and on most Dubai apartments the answer will be no. Tower entrance doors are usually fire-rated and use mortise locks, so fitting a deadbolt means drilling. A retrofit lock that sits over the inside thumbturn, like the SwitchBot Lock Ultra, suits tenants better.

Does the Tapo DL110 need a hub?
Chevron down icon
No. The DL110 connects to your router on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and uses Bluetooth for close-range control, so no Tapo hub is needed. If the signal at the door is weak, a mesh Wi-Fi point near the entrance fixes it.

Does the DL110 work with Apple Home or Matter?
Chevron down icon
No. TP-Link lists Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings and IFTTT for the DL110. It does not support Apple Home or Matter. iPhone users can still run everything through the Tapo app, but not through Siri or the Home app.

Is there a subscription for the DL110?
Chevron down icon
No. The Tapo app, remote locking, alerts, activity log and guest codes are all free. The lock has no camera, so there are no video storage plans involved. You only need to recharge the battery.

What happens in a DEWA power cut or internet outage?
Chevron down icon
The lock runs on its own battery, so a power cut does not stop fingerprint, keypad or key entry. If the internet drops, remote control and alerts stop, but Bluetooth still works from your phone at the door. TP-Link also offers a Bluetooth-only mode that saves battery.

How long does the DL110 battery last, and how do I charge it?
Chevron down icon
TP-Link quotes up to one year per charge on the removable 10,000mAh battery, based on lab tests. The pack is removable and charges over USB-C. Heavy use and summer heat shorten it. If it runs flat, a USB-C emergency port on the outside powers the lock.

Can it handle a sun-facing villa door in summer?
Chevron down icon
The exterior unit is rated to work from -30 to 70 C and is IP65 against dust and heavy rain, which covers most Dubai villa entrances. The interior unit is rated to 55 C. A dark lock in full afternoon sun gets very hot, so shade or a canopy helps the battery last.

How do I give the maid, driver or cleaner access?
Chevron down icon
Create a scheduled passcode in the Tapo app that only works on set days and hours, or register their fingerprint. Every entry appears in the activity log. When someone leaves, delete their code from your phone and nothing else needs changing.

Is the DL110 good for a holiday home?
Chevron down icon
Its one-time and scheduled codes suit short stays well, and you can check the log remotely. The limit is the door. Most DTCM holiday homes are tower apartments with fire-rated mortise doors, where this lock cannot go. A villa door already set up for US hardware is a better match.

How secure is the Tapo DL110?
Chevron down icon
It holds a BHMA Grade 2 rating, above the Grade 3 common at this price. The keypad lets you add decoy digits around your code so onlookers cannot copy it, and it locks out PIN and fingerprint entry after repeated wrong tries. Data is protected with 128-bit AES encryption.

Does the DL110 have a doorbell?
Chevron down icon
Yes, there is a doorbell button on the outside keypad that sends a ring to the Tapo app. It has no camera, so you cannot see the caller. If you want video, pair it with a separate video doorbell or camera.

How long does installation take, and do you fit it?
Chevron down icon
On a door already prepared for a US deadbolt, fitting and app setup take under an hour, and TP-Link includes the mounting tools. A door that needs new boring takes longer and we agree it first. Yes, our technicians supply and fit it after inspecting the door.

What about warranty and support in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
TP-Link lists the DL110 on its UAE website, but Amazon.ae stock comes from marketplace sellers such as JetSouq rather than TP-Link directly. Keep your invoice and check the seller's return terms. We handle installation problems on locks we fit.

Tapo DL110 or a mortise lock like the EZVIZ DL06 Pro?
Chevron down icon
Choose by door. If your door has a European mortise lock, the EZVIZ DL06 Pro fits it without a new hole and costs a similar amount. Pick the DL110 only if your door is already drilled for a US deadbolt or you own the door and accept drilling.

Who should not buy the Tapo DL110?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you rent, if your apartment door is fire-rated, if your door has a mortise lock you want to keep, or if the door is thicker than 55 mm. Apple Home users who want Siri control should also look elsewhere.

What maintenance does the DL110 need?
Chevron down icon
Recharge the battery pack when the app warns you, ideally before summer peaks. Wipe the fingerprint sensor and glass keypad with a soft cloth, especially after dust storms. Test the backup key every few months and keep the Tapo app and firmware updated.
