The Tapo DL110 is a fingerprint and keypad deadbolt from TP-Link with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a rechargeable battery. It is a strong pick for a Dubai home that already has an American-style deadbolt, or a door you own and are happy to drill. It is not a swap for the mortise locks most local doors use. You open it with a fingerprint, a PIN on the touch keypad, the Tapo app, Bluetooth up close, Alexa or Google, or one of two backup keys. The removable 10,000mAh battery charges over USB-C, and TP-Link quotes up to a year per charge. It connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi without a hub, and scheduled codes suit cleaners and drivers. There is even a doorbell button on the keypad. Apple Home and Matter are not supported. Door fit is the real question. A US deadbolt drops into a round hole, 38 or 54 mm wide, drilled through the door face 60 or 70 mm from the edge, on a door 35 to 55 mm thick. A typical Dubai door has a European mortise lock, a rectangular lock case inside the door edge with the lever and key cylinder fixed to it. There is no round hole for the DL110 to sit in, so we inspect the door before we quote. It carries BHMA Grade 2 and an IP65 rating on the outside unit, both good for the price.

The DL110 is an American deadbolt, so the door decides everything. It needs a round hole bored through the door face plus a 25 mm bolt hole in the edge. Most Dubai villa and apartment doors use a European mortise lock instead, where a rectangular lock case sits inside the door edge, so there is nowhere for the DL110 to go. We check the door before quoting. It suits doors that already have a US deadbolt, new solid doors drilled for it, and villa side, garden or annex doors you own that are 35 to 55 mm thick. Fire-rated tower apartment doors must not be drilled, and tenants need written landlord approval. The outside unit is IP65 and rated to 70 C, fine for most villa porches, though shade helps the battery. Wi-Fi must reach the door on 2.4GHz.
