No extra hub is needed. The included controller is the brain and power supply in one, so you plug it in and pair over Wi-Fi. If you use Apple Home over Thread, an Apple TV or HomePod acts as the Thread border router, but that is optional.

Will the adhesive hold on my wall in Dubai's heat?

Indoors and out of direct sun it holds fine, and normal air conditioning is not a problem. The tape grips painted plaster best. On textured, wallpapered, or newly painted walls it can loosen over time, which is a common complaint, so press firmly and let fresh paint cure fully first.

You can, but plan ahead. The adhesive tape is strong and pulling panels off can lift paint, while reused tape loses grip. If you move often, buy spare mounting tape so you can re-stick cleanly. This is worth knowing for tenants who need to leave walls unmarked.
