Overview

What it is and where it fits

The panel for awkward roofs. At 440 to 445W the Vertex S+ is physically smaller than the 550W and 590W modules above, which is the point: it fits between obstructions, around parapets and onto pitched sections where a full-size 72-cell panel simply will not sit. N-type i-TOPCon cells give it up to 22.8 percent efficiency, so you lose less per square metre than the smaller format would suggest. The dual-glass construction replaces the polymer backsheet with a second sheet of 3.2mm tempered glass, and in this climate that has a real consequence: backsheets are the component that ages under ultraviolet and heat, and removing one removes a failure path over a 25-year life. It also makes the module heavier, so the mounting design and the roof's structural capacity need checking rather than assuming. Trina backs it with a 25-year product warranty alongside the 25-year power warranty, which is a stronger product term than most of the field offers. Trina maintains a Dubai regional presence and distributes through Power n Sun and other resellers, none of whom publish an AED figure per panel. Confirm the model against DEWA's live list before a grid-tied submission.

  • Fits roof areas that a full-size 72-cell panel cannot
  • Dual glass removes the backsheet, the part that ages worst in UV and heat
  • 25-year product warranty, not only a power warranty
  • N-type cells hold efficiency well for a smaller-format module

What to check before you order

Reach for this one when the roof, not the budget, is the problem. Dubai villa roofs are rarely clean rectangles: water tanks, condenser platforms, dish mounts and access hatches break the area into pieces, and a 2.3 metre module often cannot be laid where a 1.8 metre module can. Using a smaller panel to fill those pieces adds real capacity that would otherwise be lost. Dual glass suits the climate because it takes the polymer backsheet out of the equation entirely, and backsheet degradation under sustained UV and roof-surface heat is a genuine long-term concern here rather than a theoretical one. The weight penalty is the trade: confirm the roof structure and specify mounting accordingly, particularly on older villas. Supply is by quotation through UAE distributors, with no published per-panel price. For Shams Dubai the model must appear on DEWA's eligible equipment list and the contractor must be DEWA-enrolled. Off-grid and backup arrays sidestep both requirements.

Questions about the Trina Solar Vertex S+ 440-445W (NEG9R.28)

Why choose a 445W panel over a 550W one?
Chevron down icon
Because of where it fits. On a broken-up roof, smaller modules can occupy areas a full-size panel cannot reach, and the total system size ends up larger despite the lower per-panel rating. On a wide clear roof the bigger panel wins on labour and cost per watt. This is a decision made from a roof survey, not from a datasheet.

Is dual glass genuinely better in Dubai?
Chevron down icon
For longevity, yes. A standard module's rear backsheet is a polymer laminate that ages under ultraviolet exposure and heat, and both are relentless here. Replacing it with tempered glass removes that ageing path. The cost is weight, which changes the mounting specification and needs the roof structure checked.

Does the 25-year product warranty mean much?
Chevron down icon
It means Trina covers manufacturing and material defects for 25 years, not just the power output curve. Most panels carry a shorter product term alongside a long power warranty, so a defective frame or junction box after year 15 would be your problem rather than the manufacturer's. Warranty claims also depend on the local entity still being present, which is why brands with a Dubai office are worth something.
