The Homey Bridge is the low-cost entry to the Homey platform, and the one decision it forces is the important one. It has the radios: Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread, Matter, infrared and 433MHz, which is a wider set than anything else at this price, and it is what lets a home that has accumulated devices from several brands run them from one app. What it does not have is local processing. All the automation logic lives in Homey's cloud, so the Bridge is a radio relay: when the internet goes down, so do your rules. Homey Pro is the same platform with the logic running on the box in your hallway. That gap is the entire decision between the two. For an apartment where the automations are conveniences rather than infrastructure, and where a few hours without them is an annoyance and nothing more, the Bridge is fine and it is a fraction of the price. For a villa where lighting scenes, curtain schedules and AC timing are how the house actually operates, buying the Bridge is a false economy that gets discovered on the first bad day with the connection.

Internet reliability is the deciding factor here, and in Dubai it is not a theoretical concern. Home connections drop for a few hours often enough that a household notices, and with the Bridge every rule stops for the duration: curtains stay where they are, lighting scenes do not fire, AC schedules do not run. In an apartment where somebody is home to flip a switch, that is tolerable. In a villa left on schedules while the family travels for the summer, it is not, and Homey Pro is the version to specify. There is no ethernet port on the Bridge either, so it also cannot sit on the wired backhaul that a villa rack makes available.
