Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Reolink Argus 3 Pro is a fully wire-free outdoor camera that runs on a built-in battery topped up by the solar panel in the box. There are no cables to run and no hub to buy. You mount the camera, point the small solar panel at the sky, and it keeps itself charged with a few hours of daily sun. In Dubai that part is easy. The 5MP sensor records at 2880x1620, sharper than most 1080p cameras, with a 105 degree wide view that covers a gate, a driveway or a front door. At night two spotlights switch on for full-colour video up to about 10 metres, and IR keeps working in pure dark. A PIR sensor triggers recording and the camera decides on-device whether it saw a person or a vehicle, so you get fewer pointless alerts from cats and shadows. Video saves to a microSD card (up to 128GB, bought separately), so there is no monthly fee to keep footage. Two-way audio lets you talk to a delivery driver from your phone. It suits villa owners who want a camera on the boundary wall without calling an electrician, and tenants who need something they can unmount and take when the lease ends. Honest limits: it is not a 24/7 continuous recorder, it needs decent Wi-Fi where you mount it, and there is no Apple Home support.

  • Truly wire-free: built-in battery kept full by the included solar panel, no cables and no hub.
  • Sharp 5MP video with a wide 105 degree view for gates, doors and driveways.
  • Full-colour night vision to about 10m from two built-in spotlights.
  • Fewer false alerts thanks to on-device person and vehicle detection, footage saved free to microSD.

What to check before you order

Dubai summers test any outdoor camera. The Argus 3 Pro is IP65 rated with a stated -10°C to 55°C operating range, which covers our heat but sits near the top on a west-facing wall in July, so give the camera body some shade if you can. The solar panel loves the local sun and holds the battery full on a few hours a day, so charging is rarely on your mind. Dust is the other factor. Wipe the lens and panel now and then, especially after a shamal, or the picture turns hazy and charging slows. The panel plugs into the camera, not the wall, so you need no Type-G socket outdoors and there is no extra load on your DEWA bill. Wi-Fi reach matters most in villas. A camera on the far gate may need a mesh node nearby. Buy through us for local UAE stock, the 2-year Reolink warranty and help with mounting and setup.

Questions about the Reolink Argus 3 Pro + Solar Panel

What exactly is the Reolink Argus 3 Pro?
Chevron down icon
It is a wire-free outdoor security camera. It runs on a built-in 5200mAh battery that the included solar panel keeps topped up, so there are no power cables and no separate hub. It shoots 5MP video, sees in colour at night, and sends alerts to your phone through the free Reolink app.

Is it right for my villa?
Chevron down icon
Yes, this is one of its best uses. Villa owners mount it on a boundary wall, gate or front porch without hiring an electrician, since there is nothing to wire. The solar panel means you rarely climb up to swap batteries. For a large plot you may want a few units for the gate, driveway and back door.

Does it suit an apartment?
Chevron down icon
It can work, but think about placement. Most apartment balconies get limited direct sun, so the solar panel may not fully keep up and you would recharge by cable now and then. It is also outdoor-focused. If you mainly want an indoor or balcony camera in a flat, a plug-in model is often the easier choice.

Does it need Wi-Fi?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The camera connects over dual-band 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wi-Fi straight to your router, then to the app. It has no wired network port. Make sure your Wi-Fi actually reaches the spot where you plan to mount it, which matters in larger villas where the signal fades near the far gate.

Do I need a hub or bridge?
Chevron down icon
No hub, bridge or base station is needed. The camera talks to your home Wi-Fi on its own and links directly to the Reolink app. That keeps setup and cost down. You only add Reolink's NVR or Home Hub later if you decide to grow into a bigger multi-camera system, and even then it stays optional.

Do I have to pay a monthly subscription?
Chevron down icon
No. You can use every core feature, including person and vehicle detection and recording to a microSD card, with no monthly fee. Reolink offers an optional cloud plan in supported regions if you want off-site backup, but it is not required. Footage on the local card is yours to keep for free.

Which app does it use?
Chevron down icon
The free Reolink app for iPhone and Android runs everything: live view, playback, alerts, two-way talk and settings. You can also use the Reolink Client on a Windows PC or Mac for a bigger screen. One account can hold several Reolink cameras, so the whole property sits in one place.

Does it work with Google Assistant?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It supports Google Assistant, so you can say something like, Hey Google, show me the front camera, and the live feed appears on a Google Nest Hub or a Chromecast-connected TV. You set this up once by linking the Reolink account inside the Google Home app.

Does it work with Amazon Alexa?
Chevron down icon
Support for Alexa on Reolink's battery cameras is limited and changes over time, so do not buy this one purely to use with an Echo Show. Google Assistant is the reliable voice option here. If Alexa streaming is a must-have for you, tell us and we will point you to a model that supports it properly.

Does it work with Apple Home or HomeKit?
Chevron down icon
No. This camera does not work with Apple Home or HomeKit, and there is no HomeKit Secure Video support. You control it through the Reolink app on your iPhone instead, which does the same daily jobs. If tight HomeKit integration is what you need, let us know and we will suggest a HomeKit camera.

How does it cope with Dubai heat?
Chevron down icon
It is built for outdoor use with an IP65 rating and a stated operating range up to 55°C, which covers most of the year here. On the hottest afternoons a dark, west-facing wall can get very hot, so mount it under an eave or in partial shade where you can. That also protects the battery and keeps the picture clean.

What about dust and sandstorms?
Chevron down icon
Fine dust and the odd sandstorm are the main thing to manage. The housing shrugs off dust, but a film on the lens softens the image and a film on the solar panel slows charging. A quick wipe every few weeks, and after a big shamal, keeps both the video sharp and the battery topping up properly.

How is it powered, and do I need a Type-G plug?
Chevron down icon
There is nothing to plug into a wall outside. The camera holds its own rechargeable battery, and the solar panel connects to the camera by its fixed cable, not to mains power. So you need no Type-G socket at the mounting point, and it adds nothing to your DEWA bill. You only use a Type-G charger if you top it up indoors.

Does the solar panel really keep it charged in Dubai?
Chevron down icon
Yes, this is where Dubai helps you. A few hours of direct sun a day is usually enough to keep the battery full, and we get plenty of clear sky. Angle the panel so it catches the morning or midday sun and keep it clean. In a shaded corner with little sun, plan to recharge by cable occasionally.

How is footage stored and what size card do I need?
Chevron down icon
Footage records to a microSD card that slots into the camera. The Amazon.ae listing states support for cards up to 128GB, and the card is not included, so budget for one. A 128GB card holds a lot of motion clips. There is also an optional Reolink cloud plan in supported regions if you want a backup copy off-site.

Does it record 24/7 or only on motion?
Chevron down icon
No, and this is important to understand. Like most battery and solar cameras, it records clips when its motion sensor is triggered, not around the clock. That is how the battery lasts. If you need true nonstop 24/7 recording, you want a wired or PoE camera on an NVR instead, and we can quote one of those.

How good is the night vision?
Chevron down icon
Good for a battery camera. Two built-in spotlights switch on to give full-colour video out to roughly 10 metres, which is far more useful than plain black-and-white for spotting faces, cars and colours. In complete darkness with the spotlights off, infrared LEDs still deliver a clear black-and-white picture at closer range.

Can I talk through the camera?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It has a microphone and a speaker, so you can hear what is happening and talk back from the app. It is handy for telling a courier where to leave a parcel, or warning someone off your gate. Sound quality is fine for short exchanges rather than long conversations.

How do I install it, and can you set it up?
Chevron down icon
Installation is simple because there is no wiring. You screw the bracket to a wall, clip on the camera and the solar panel, and pair it to Wi-Fi through the app in a few minutes. Prefer not to do it yourself? Our team can mount it, aim the panel, tune the motion zones and set up the app for you.

What is the battery life if there is no sun?
Chevron down icon
On its own, without the panel, a full 5200mAh charge typically lasts weeks depending on how much motion it records. With the solar panel doing its job in Dubai, you should rarely need to recharge at all. Very busy locations that trigger constantly will drain faster, so position it to watch what matters.

Contact us
Is it noisy, and does it have a siren?
Chevron down icon
The camera is silent in normal use. The speaker is there for two-way talk and for sounding an alert tone when motion is detected, which you can turn on or off. So it will not disturb neighbours by itself, but you have the option to play a warning sound at an intruder through the app.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
It comes with Reolink's standard 2-year limited manufacturer warranty. Buy it from us and you deal with a local UAE team for setup questions and any warranty claim, rather than shipping things overseas or waiting on a foreign seller. We help you register the product and sort out replacements if anything goes wrong.

How much does it cost and how do I buy from you?
Chevron down icon
The current retail price is around AED 309 for the camera with the solar panel included, which is strong value for a 5MP solar camera. Prices move, so ask us for today's figure and any bundle if you want several units. We supply local stock, handle delivery across Dubai and the UAE, and can install it too.

How does it compare to the eufy SoloCam or a Ring battery camera?
Chevron down icon
Against the eufy SoloCam S220 and the Ring battery camera, the Argus 3 Pro stands out on resolution (5MP versus 1080p or 2K) and on the fact that no subscription is needed to keep recordings, since it saves to a card. Ring leans on a paid plan for full features. eufy is also subscription-light, but the Reolink usually costs less.

Who should not buy this camera?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you need 24/7 continuous recording, deep Apple HomeKit integration, or a camera for a shaded balcony that never sees the sun. Also skip it if you refuse to ever touch settings or clean a lens. For those cases a wired PoE camera, a HomeKit model, or a plug-in indoor camera fits better, and we can quote one.
