Overview

What it is and where it fits

Almost the same camera as the EZVIZ C6N with a higher resolution sensor, and the one to choose if your router and the rest of your kit are already TP-Link. It records to a microSD card with no subscription. The sensor is 3MP rather than 1080p, which in practice buys you a bit more usable detail when you crop into a still, and that is the honest extent of the difference in a normally lit room. Pan runs a full 360 degrees horizontally with 114 degrees of tilt, so one unit on a sideboard covers the room. Motion detection can be set to notify only on a person rather than on every change of light, which cuts the notification volume down to something people will actually keep switched on. The card slot takes up to 256GB. Tapo Care exists as an optional cloud plan for around a month of history, and you can ignore it entirely. Privacy mode physically turns the lens to face the base, which is a more convincing answer than a software toggle for anyone who wants a camera in the house but not always watching. Indoor only, with no weather rating.

  • 3MP detail, so a cropped still still tells you something
  • Physical privacy mode that rotates the lens away
  • Person detection instead of an alert every time the light changes
  • Local card recording with no monthly cost

What to check before you order

Worth choosing over the EZVIZ if the property already runs TP-Link networking, because staying in one app and one account is worth more day to day than the small sensor difference. Note the manufacturer operating range: zero to forty degrees. That is a room temperature device and nothing else. A Dubai apartment left with the AC off through a summer afternoon will sit above forty in the worst-facing rooms, which is a real consideration for a holiday home or a unit between tenants, and a reason to keep the camera out of direct sun through glass. Placement inside an apartment needs a moment of thought about what is behind the subject: a camera in a hallway that also looks through an open front door onto a shared corridor is recording common property and other residents. Angle it into your own space.

Questions about the TP-Link Tapo C210 Indoor Pan/Tilt Camera (3MP)

Tapo C210 or EZVIZ C6N?

Follow the app you already have. The Tapo has the sharper sensor and a physical privacy rotation, the EZVIZ costs slightly less. Both record locally without a subscription and both do the same job in a room. If you own a TP-Link router or Tapo plugs, take the C210 and stay in one account.

What size memory card should I buy?

128GB is the sensible middle for a room camera and gives most homes a couple of weeks of looping history at 3MP. The camera accepts up to 256GB. Use a card rated for continuous video, because a cheap card written to around the clock in a warm room is the single most common cause of a camera that quietly stopped recording months ago.

Can it watch a specific area only?

Yes. You can set detection zones so the camera ignores parts of the frame, which is how you stop a curtain moving under an AC vent from generating alerts all afternoon. It is also the practical way to exclude a doorway that looks onto a shared corridor from triggering recordings.
