This driver motorises an existing roller blind rather than replacing it, by taking over the bead chain that currently raises and lowers it. It suits studies, kitchens and home cinema rooms where the window has a roller blind rather than curtains, and it is the usual way to bring a manual projector screen under app and scene control. Fitting takes minutes and involves no change to the blind itself. Like the rest of the Aqara range it runs on Zigbee and needs a hub, after which it appears as a shade in Apple Home, Alexa or Google and can be tied into scenes. In a media room the practical benefit is that one scene lowers the blind, dims the lights and starts the projector, which is otherwise three separate actions in three different places.

Check the tube diameter and that the blind runs on a bead chain rather than a spring mechanism, because spring-loaded blinds cannot be driven this way.
