The Gardena smart Water Control is a battery-powered tap timer that turns a standard outdoor tap into a scheduled watering system. It screws onto a G3/4" or G1" tap thread, and your garden hose, drip line, or sprinkler connects to the other end. From there it waters on a timer, so nobody has to stand in the sun holding a hose. There are two ways to run it. Out of the box, built-in Bluetooth lets you set schedules and start or stop watering from the free GARDENA Bluetooth App, as long as your phone is within about 10 metres. No hub, no Wi-Fi, no account needed. Add the GARDENA smart Gateway (sold separately) and you get the full GARDENA smart App: control from anywhere, weather-based scheduling, and links to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa and Google Home. For a Dubai villa garden, it suits owners and long-term tenants who want the lawn or plant beds watered early each morning with no wiring at the tap. It runs on 3 AA batteries that last a full season, and renters can unscrew it and take it along when they move. The limits are worth knowing. Without the gateway you can only adjust it from close range, and one unit controls a single tap outlet. If you have several separate zones, pick a multi-zone controller instead. The frost-alert feature is made for cold climates and does nothing here.

A tap timer earns its keep in Dubai, where watering is best done before sunrise to cut evaporation and protect the lawn. Set the schedule once and the Water Control handles it while you sleep. Mount the unit in shade if you can, since long hours in direct summer sun and blowing dust are hard on any outdoor electronics, and keep the battery compartment shut tight against fine sand. There is no plug to worry about, so the 220-240V Type-G question does not apply at the tap. The only mains device is the optional smart Gateway indoors, which uses a standard UK-style three-pin plug. Bluetooth range is about 10 metres, so on a large villa plot the gateway, or simply setting schedules while standing in the garden, works better than trying to reach the tap from inside the house. Gardena is sold widely in the UAE through Amazon.ae and garden retailers, and the 5-year warranty applies once you register online.
