The Aqara Smart Lock U200 Lite is a budget retrofit lock for euro-cylinder doors, and it makes the most sense for Dubai homes that already run Aqara sensors or an Apple, Google or Amazon Thread hub. It fits over the inside of your existing cylinder with no drilling and no cylinder change, then turns the lock by app, voice, auto-lock or a phone tap on the included NFC sticker. You keep your keys and nothing changes outside the door. It talks Bluetooth and Thread. Near the door, the Aqara Home app works over Bluetooth without a hub. For remote opening and for Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, SmartThings or Home Assistant, you need a Matter controller with a Thread border router, such as an Aqara Hub M3, HomePod mini or Nest Hub. A built-in gyroscope can lock the door automatically when it closes, and a Quiet mode keeps it from waking the house at night. Power is a 2000 mAh rechargeable battery that charges over USB-C, with Aqara quoting up to six months. The limits: your cylinder must have an emergency function, the body is tall at 152.5 mm, and there is no keypad or fingerprint reader. Guests and staff without a phone cannot get in unless someone opens the door remotely. If you want fingerprint entry from outside, the full U200 Kit is the better buy.

The U200 Lite suits the standard Dubai door with a European mortise lock and a double euro-profile cylinder. It does not fit US bored deadbolts, rim locks, UK oval cylinders or glass doors. The cylinder must have an emergency function, so a key still works from outside with one inside. Many builder-grade cylinders fail this, and then we fit Aqara's adjustable cylinder or a quality euro cylinder. The body is 152.5 mm tall, so we check it clears the lever handle on your door before you buy. No drilling means tenants can usually fit it, but read your tenancy contract first. Aqara rates it to 55°C, and it sits on the air-conditioned side, so heat is not the issue. In a DEWA power cut it keeps working over Bluetooth, but remote access stops unless your Thread hub and router are on backup power. With no keypad, it suits families with phones better than homes with maids or drivers.
