Pick the U300 when the deciding factor is platform freedom rather than credential count. It is the point in the Aqara ladder where Matter support means the lock presents itself to Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings through a standard rather than through a brand integration, which matters in a household where different people carry different phones. Entry is by fingerprint, keypad PIN, card, app and mechanical key, and the keypad scrambles digit positions so a PIN cannot be read back from finger movement or smudges on the keys. It replaces the existing lock rather than sitting over it, so it belongs on a door you own or one where the landlord has agreed in writing. Against the U100 above it, the U300 trades Apple Home Key convenience for a lower price and broader platform reach. Against the U50 below it, you are paying for Matter and for a better keypad.
