Overview

What it is and where it fits

The eufy E330 is a smart deadbolt and a video doorbell in one unit, and it suits a door that already has a US-style deadbolt hole. It is not a drop-in for the European mortise locks fitted on most Dubai villa and apartment doors, so we look at your door before recommending it. On the outside you get a 2K camera with a doorbell button, a keypad and a fingerprint reader. Inside, a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery runs the lock and the camera together, so there is one battery to charge rather than two. You open it by fingerprint, PIN, the eufy Security app, Alexa or Google voice, or the physical key. It connects straight to your Wi-Fi, so you can see who is at the door and let them in from anywhere without a hub, and eufy sells it with no monthly fee for the core features. The fit is the whole question in Dubai. A US deadbolt needs a 2-1/8 inch round hole through the door face, and a mortise door has a tall pocket cut into its edge instead. Swapping one for the other means new door prep or a new door, which rarely makes sense. If your door is US-drilled, this is a good value video lock. If it is a mortise door, a mortise video lock such as the EZVIZ DL50FVS is the better route.

  • Doorbell camera and smart lock in one unit on the door
  • One rechargeable battery runs both the camera and the lock
  • Fingerprint, PIN, app, voice or key for every member of the household
  • Works over Wi-Fi without a separate hub or bridge

What to check before you order

Most Dubai villas and apartments use European mortise locks, where the lock body sits in a tall pocket cut into the edge of the door. The E330 is built for the US deadbolt format, which needs a 2-1/8 inch round hole through the face of the door and a smaller hole in the edge. The two are not interchangeable, so we inspect the door before quoting and we will tell you plainly if it does not suit. Doors in some newer villas and imported door sets are US-drilled, and on those the E330 fits well. Tenants need the landlord's written approval before any lock change, and tower apartment entry doors are often fire-rated, which building management may not allow to be altered. The camera and keypad face outward, so a door in full afternoon sun should be checked, and Wi-Fi at the entrance is often weak in larger villas. We test the signal at the door itself before fitting.

Questions about the eufy Video Smart Lock E330

Will the eufy E330 fit my Dubai door?
Chevron down icon
Only if the door is prepared for a US-style deadbolt, with a round 2-1/8 inch hole through the face. Most Dubai villa and apartment doors use European mortise locks instead, which the E330 does not replace. We check your door first and suggest a mortise video lock if it does not suit.

How many cameras does the E330 have?
Chevron down icon
One. It has a single 2K HD camera with a doorbell button, facing the visitor. eufy's dual-camera models are a different product line. For most front doors one camera covers who is standing there, which is what you need when deciding whether to let someone in.

Does it have face recognition?
Chevron down icon
No. The E330 opens by fingerprint, keypad PIN, the eufy Security app, Alexa or Google voice, and a mechanical key. If you want face recognition on a Dubai mortise door, look at the EZVIZ Y2000FVS or the Philips EasyKey DDL702 instead.

Is there a monthly fee?

eufy sells the E330 with no monthly fee for its core features, so live view, the doorbell and unlocking all work without a subscription. Check the eufy Security app for any optional paid cloud plans if you want extra storage off the device.

Can I fit this if I rent?
Chevron down icon
Not without your landlord's written approval, and only if the door is already drilled for a US deadbolt. If you rent a flat with a mortise lock, a retrofit lock such as the Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock or a Nuki fits over your existing cylinder and leaves the door untouched.

How is it powered?

By a 10,000mAh rechargeable battery that runs both the lock and the camera, so you charge one pack rather than separate batteries. A mechanical key is there as a backup if the battery ever runs flat.
