Overview

What it is and where it fits

The EZVIZ Y2000 is a Wi-Fi fingerprint mortise lock with no camera, sold in 5085 and 6068 lock body sizes. It suits Dubai villa and apartment owners who want keyless entry on the main door without paying for face recognition or video. Grip the handle and your thumb lands on the fingerprint reader. It also takes PIN codes, proximity cards, a Bluetooth key, temporary codes and remote opening in the EZVIZ app, and it comes with two mechanical keys. Wi-Fi is built in, so there is no bridge to buy. The app tells you when the door opens, when someone tampers with the lock and when the batteries run low. Link a supported EZVIZ indoor camera and each opening can trigger a recording. Power comes from eight AA alkaline batteries. EZVIZ quotes up to a year, but that figure assumes Bluetooth mode with Wi-Fi switched off, so expect to change them sooner with alerts on. It is a close sibling of the EZVIZ DL05 we list, with the same panel size, batteries and app. On paper the Y2000 adds recording on linked EZVIZ cameras, while the DL05 has a tougher IP65 front panel and often costs less. The DL06 Pro steps up to a rechargeable battery and fingerprint readers on both sides. If you want to see who is at the door, look at the Y2000FVS or DL50FVS instead. Honest limits: no camera, no Apple Home, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, and fitting it changes the door hardware, so tenants need written landlord approval first.

What to check before you order

Most Dubai villa and apartment doors take a European style mortise lock, and the Y2000 comes in the two lock body sizes we meet most often, 5085 and 6068. We measure the existing lock body before ordering, because the wrong size means extra cutting and a messy finish. The 5085 version suits doors 30 to 110mm thick and the 6068 version 40 to 120mm. It is a lift-up body: push the handle down to open, lift it to lock. Only the front panel is rated IPX5, so on a villa door facing the afternoon sun a porch or canopy helps, and we check Wi-Fi strength at the door before fitting. Tower entrance doors are often fire-rated, and building management may refuse hardware changes, so ask them first. Tenants need landlord approval. In a DEWA power cut the lock keeps working on its batteries, but app alerts stop until your router is back.

Questions about the EZVIZ Y2000 Smart Fingerprint Lock

What is the EZVIZ Y2000?
Chevron down icon
The Y2000 is a mortise smart lock from EZVIZ that opens by fingerprint, PIN, card, phone or mechanical key. It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in, runs on AA batteries and replaces the handle set and lock body on a standard hinged door. It has no camera and no face recognition.

How much does the EZVIZ Y2000 cost in Dubai?
Chevron down icon
At our last check it was AED 490 at Microless UAE and AED 599 on Amazon.ae and noon, where the 5085 and 6068 versions are listed separately. Prices change often, so treat these as a guide. Fitting is extra unless your seller includes it.

Should I buy the 5085 or the 6068 version?
Chevron down icon
Buy the one that matches the lock body already in your door. Roughly, the first two digits are the backset and the last two are the distance between handle and cylinder. Send us a photo of the door edge with measurements and we will confirm the right version before you order.

Will the Y2000 fit my apartment door?
Chevron down icon
It fits most solid hinged apartment doors that already use a mortise lock, from 30mm up to 120mm thick depending on the version. It does not suit glass doors, thin hollow doors or doors with a US style round bore. Fire-rated tower doors need building management approval before any change.

Can a tenant install the EZVIZ Y2000?
Chevron down icon
Only with written permission from the landlord. The Y2000 replaces the lock body and handles, and the panels may need new fixing holes, so it changes the door. Keep the original lock so it can go back at the end of the tenancy, and give the landlord an emergency key.

Do I need a hub or bridge for the Y2000?
Chevron down icon
No. The Y2000 has 2.4GHz Wi-Fi built in and connects straight to your home router through the EZVIZ app. Bluetooth handles setup and phone keys nearby. If your router only broadcasts 5GHz, or the signal at the door is weak, you will need a 2.4GHz network or an extra access point.

Is there a monthly subscription?
Chevron down icon
The lock's own features, including alerts, users, temporary codes and remote unlock in the EZVIZ app, do not need a paid plan. EZVIZ sells CloudPlay cloud storage for its cameras, which only matters if you link an EZVIZ camera and want recordings kept in the cloud.

Does the Y2000 work with Apple Home, Alexa or Google Home?
Chevron down icon
Plan on using it through the EZVIZ app. It does not support Apple Home or Matter, and EZVIZ's Y2000 product page does not list Alexa or Google Home control, even though the older DL05 datasheet does. If Apple Home matters to you, look at the Aqara U300 instead.

What happens in a DEWA power cut or when the internet drops?
Chevron down icon
The lock keeps working, because it runs on its own batteries and checks fingerprints, PINs and cards on the device. What stops is remote unlocking and phone alerts, which need your router online. Once power and internet return, the lock reconnects without any action from you.

How long do the batteries last in the Y2000?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ quotes up to 365 days, based on 10 openings a day with Wi-Fi switched off and only Bluetooth running. With Wi-Fi on for live alerts, battery life is shorter, and a weak signal at the door drains them faster. The app and the lock both warn you when batteries are low.

Can I use rechargeable AA batteries?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ specifies 1.5V AA alkaline batteries, and that is what we fit. Standard rechargeable AAs run at 1.2V, which can trigger low battery warnings early and give unpredictable life. Buy a good brand of alkaline and change all eight together, never mixing old and new cells.

What if the batteries go flat while I am outside?
Chevron down icon
Connect a power bank to the USB-C port on the outside panel. That gives the lock enough power to accept your fingerprint or PIN so you can get in and change the batteries. The port only supplies emergency power and does not recharge the AAs. The mechanical key also works.

How does the Y2000 cope with a Dubai summer?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ rates it for -25°C to 70°C and the front panel carries IPX5 protection. On doors under a porch that is comfortable. On a door facing direct afternoon sun, the metal panel gets very hot and battery life drops, so shade helps. Wipe dust off the fingerprint reader regularly.

Can I fit the Y2000 on an outdoor villa gate?
Chevron down icon
We do not recommend it. Only the front panel is rated IPX5, the lock is designed for a door leaf rather than a metal gate, and an exposed gate takes direct sun, sand and the occasional heavy rain. For a gate, ask us about locks and access control built for outdoor use.

How secure is the Y2000?
Chevron down icon
Fingerprints are stored and processed on the lock itself. Five wrong attempts within five minutes lock out the keypad for three minutes, an anti-tamper alarm alerts you if someone tries to remove it, and anti-peeping codes let you add random digits around your PIN. Physical strength also depends on the door and frame.

Can I give our maid or driver their own access?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The Y2000 holds up to 50 users, each with their own fingerprint, PIN or card, and the app log shows who opened the door. When someone leaves your employment, delete their fingerprint and code from the app. For short jobs, send a temporary code instead of adding a permanent user.

Is the Y2000 a good lock for a holiday home?
Chevron down icon
It works for a DTCM holiday home if you manage codes yourself. You can create temporary codes remotely in the EZVIZ app for each guest. There is no camera to see who arrived, so hosts who want arrival footage should add an EZVIZ indoor camera or choose a camera lock.

What do privacy mode and child safety lock do?
Chevron down icon
Privacy mode lets only the administrator open the door from outside with their fingerprint, PIN or card, while the mechanical key still works. Child safety lock is a button on the inside panel that stops the inner handle being opened by accident, which helps when small children can reach the handle.

Can the Y2000 record who comes through the door?
Chevron down icon
The app keeps an event log of openings, but the lock has no camera. EZVIZ says it can trigger recordings on selected indoor cameras, currently the C6N G1 range and CP1 Pro models. Check the camera model with EZVIZ before buying, since that list can change with firmware updates.

How is the Y2000 different from the EZVIZ DL05?
Chevron down icon
They are close siblings, with the same 360mm panel, eight AA batteries, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 50 user capacity. The Y2000 adds recording on linked EZVIZ indoor cameras. The DL05 has a tougher IP65 front panel against the Y2000's IPX5 and often costs less, so for a door with no EZVIZ camera the DL05 is the smarter buy.

Should I get the Y2000 or the EZVIZ DL06 Pro?
Chevron down icon
Choose the DL06 Pro if you would rather recharge than buy batteries, want IP65 panels on both sides, or need a fingerprint reader on the inside handle too. Choose the Y2000 if you prefer AA batteries you can swap in seconds and a lower price. Neither model has a camera.

How does the Y2000 compare with the Y2000FVS and DL50FVS?
Chevron down icon
The Y2000 has no camera. The Y2000FVS adds 3D face recognition, a camera and a video intercom, and the DL50FVS is our listed peephole camera lock with face recognition. If you want to see who is at the door or who was let in, pay for one of those instead.

Does the Y2000 have a doorbell?
Chevron down icon
Yes, EZVIZ lists a built-in doorbell on the Y2000 keypad. There is no camera or speaker for talking to the visitor, so it works like a simple bell rather than a video doorbell. If you want video and two-way talk at the door, pair it with a video doorbell or choose a camera lock.

How long does installation take, and do you fit it?
Chevron down icon
Yes, we supply and fit the Y2000 across Dubai. On a door that already has a matching mortise lock body, fitting usually takes a couple of hours, including app setup and enrolling fingerprints. Doors that need recutting for a different lock body size take longer, and we tell you before starting.

What warranty and support does the Y2000 have in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
Warranty terms depend on where you buy. EZVIZ's Amazon.ae listing offers a three year extended warranty when an authorised EZVIZ installer fits the lock, with a UAE phone and WhatsApp line for service. Keep your invoice, and check the seller's own warranty terms before ordering from a marketplace.

Who should not buy the EZVIZ Y2000?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you rent and cannot get landlord approval, if your door has a US style round bore, or if you want Apple Home or voice control. It is also the wrong choice if you want to see visitors, since there is no camera. Glass and aluminium sliding doors need a different lock.

What maintenance does the Y2000 need?
Chevron down icon
Very little. Wipe the fingerprint reader with a dry soft cloth, change all eight batteries when the warning appears, and test the mechanical key every few months so it does not seize. If the handle starts to feel stiff, the lock body usually needs adjusting, which we handle during a service visit.
