Overview

What it is and where it fits

The EZVIZ Y2000FVS is a 6068 mortise smart lock with 3D face recognition, a door camera and a 4-inch indoor screen, fitted with a normal lever handle. It suits Dubai families who want to see visitors and walk in hands-free without paying palm vein prices. Walk up, the lock recognises your face in about a second, and you press the handle as usual. Fingerprint, PIN, Bluetooth key, temporary codes, remote app unlock and a mechanical key cover everyone else. There is no card reader. The outside camera has a 132 degree view and infrared night vision to 2m, a radar sensor flags anyone lingering at the door, and clips save to built-in storage, so cloud storage is optional. Inside, the screen shows who is outside without a phone, and you can take a two-way video call in the EZVIZ app. Power is a 5,000mAh rechargeable battery. EZVIZ quotes 4 to 5 months, measured with Wi-Fi switched off, so plan on charging more often with live alerts on. In the EZVIZ range it is the lever handle alternative to the DL50FVS we list, which has almost the same camera, screen and battery but a tilting grab handle and usually costs more. Step up to the Y3000FVP Plus for palm vein, or drop to the Y2000 if you do not need a camera. Honest limits: the front panel is only IP52 and rated to 55°C, so a sun-facing door needs shade. Only a 6068 lock body is offered, and Apple Home is not supported.

  • Face recognition opens the door as you press a normal lever handle
  • See callers on the indoor screen or answer a video call on your phone
  • Radar alert when someone hangs around outside your door
  • Clips save on the lock, so a cloud plan is optional

What to check before you order

The Y2000FVS only comes with a 6068 mortise lock body. That size is common on Dubai villa and apartment doors but not universal, so we check the existing body first, because a 5085 door needs recutting. EZVIZ does not publish a door thickness range for this model, so we measure the door as well. The panels are about 391mm tall and 72mm wide, larger than most handle sets, so old holes need covering. The front panel is IP52 and rated for -10°C to 55°C. That is fine in a tower corridor or a shaded villa porch, but a door facing direct afternoon sun in summer can pass that, so shade it or choose another lock. Fire-rated apartment doors need building management approval, and tenants need written landlord consent. Point the camera at your own doorstep, not a neighbour's door. In a DEWA cut the lock still opens, but alerts and video calls stop until the router has power.

Questions about the EZVIZ Y2000FVS Face Recognition Smart Lock

What is the EZVIZ Y2000FVS?
Chevron down icon
The Y2000FVS is an EZVIZ mortise smart lock that opens by 3D face recognition, fingerprint, PIN, phone or key. It has a camera on the outside, a 4-inch screen on the inside, two-way video calling and a rechargeable battery. It connects to Wi-Fi directly and uses a classic lever handle.

How much does the EZVIZ Y2000FVS cost in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
At our last check it was AED 1,079 on Amazon.ae as a limited time deal, down from a list price of AED 1,199, sold by Ezviz Direct. We did not find it in stock on noon or at other mainstream UAE electronics retailers. Fitting is extra, and prices change, so treat this as a guide.

What is the difference between the Y2000FVS and the EZVIZ DL50FVS?
Chevron down icon
On paper they share the core hardware: 3D face recognition, fingerprint, a 4-inch indoor screen, a 5,000mAh battery, IP52 and a 6068 body. The Y2000FVS uses a standard lever handle, while the DL50FVS has a tilting grab handle and a slightly taller 400mm panel. The Y2000FVS usually costs less.

Should I buy the Y2000FVS or the plain Y2000?
Chevron down icon
Buy the Y2000FVS if you want to see who is at the door, walk in by face and talk to visitors from your phone. Buy the Y2000 if fingerprint and PIN are enough. The Y2000 costs roughly half as much, runs on AA batteries and has a proximity card reader.

How does the Y2000FVS compare with the Y3000FVP Plus?
Chevron down icon
The Y3000FVP Plus adds palm vein recognition, which works well for people whose fingerprints wear down and for anyone who covers their face. It costs several hundred dirhams more. If everyone at home can use face or fingerprint, the Y2000FVS gives you the camera and screen for less.

Does the Y2000FVS have palm vein unlock?
Chevron down icon
No. Palm vein appears in one graphic on EZVIZ's product page, but the official specification lists face, fingerprint, PIN, Bluetooth key, temporary codes, remote unlock and mechanical key only. If you want palm vein, look at the Y3000FVP Plus or DL50FVX instead.

Will the Y2000FVS fit my villa or apartment door?
Chevron down icon
It fits solid hinged doors that take a 6068 mortise lock body. Many Dubai doors use that size, but some use 5085, which means recutting. It does not suit glass doors, sliding doors or US style round bore doors. We measure the lock body and door thickness before ordering.

Can a tenant install the Y2000FVS?
Chevron down icon
Only with written landlord approval. It replaces the lock body and handles, uses larger panels than a normal handle set and may need new fixing holes. Keep the original lock so it can be refitted when you move out, and share an emergency key arrangement with the landlord.

Do I need a hub or a subscription?
Chevron down icon
No hub is needed, because Wi-Fi is built in. No subscription is needed either. Video clips save to storage inside the lock, and EZVIZ's paid cloud storage is optional if you want recordings kept off the device. The app features for users, codes and remote unlock are free.

Does the Y2000FVS work with Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ's specification lists Google Assistant and Alexa support, delivered by firmware update, but not Apple Home or Matter. Day to day you will manage it in the EZVIZ app. We do not recommend voice unlocking for a front door, so treat voice support as a status and convenience feature.

Does face recognition work for someone who wears a niqab or sunglasses?
Chevron down icon
Face recognition needs to see the face, so anyone wearing a niqab or face covering outdoors should enrol a fingerprint or PIN as their main method. EZVIZ says it handles glasses, beards and hairstyle changes. Strong sunlight directly on the face can slow recognition, according to EZVIZ's own footnotes.

Can children use the face recognition?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ states face recognition works for people standing within 1m of the lock and between 1.2m and 2m tall. Younger children below that height should use a fingerprint or PIN. Parents can also turn on privacy mode or check the app log to see when the kids get home.

Is the face recognition on the Y2000FVS secure?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ uses 3D depth sensing, claims a false acceptance rate of 0.0001% or lower in its lab, and says photos, videos and masks cannot fool it. Face data is processed and stored on the lock, not in the cloud. We still set a fingerprint or PIN alongside it for every user.

How long does the battery last and how do I charge it?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ quotes 4 to 5 months per charge, based on 10 openings a day with Wi-Fi off. With Wi-Fi alerts, video calls and radar detection on, expect a shorter gap between charges. It uses a 5,000mAh rechargeable lithium battery, and the app warns you when it runs low.

What if the battery dies while I am outside?
Chevron down icon
Plug a power bank into the USB-C port on the outside panel. That powers the lock long enough to use your face, fingerprint or PIN and get inside to recharge the battery properly. The mechanical key also opens the door, so keep one somewhere you can reach it.

What happens during a power cut or when the internet is down?
Chevron down icon
The lock keeps opening by face, fingerprint, PIN and key, because it runs on its own battery and processes everything locally. Remote unlock, phone alerts and video calls stop until your router is back online. The indoor screen still works because it is part of the lock.

Can the Y2000FVS handle a Dubai summer?
Chevron down icon
EZVIZ rates it for -10°C to 55°C with an IP52 front panel. That suits an apartment corridor or a villa door under a porch. A dark door in direct afternoon sun can run hotter than 55°C in July and August, so shade the door or consider a lock with a higher rating.

Does it record video of people at my door?
Chevron down icon
Yes. A radar sensor detects people near the door, sends an alert and records a clip you can replay from the lock's built-in storage. You can also open live view in the EZVIZ app. Radar detection can be switched off in the app if it triggers too often in a busy corridor.

Can I talk to a delivery driver when I am not home?
Chevron down icon
Yes. When someone rings, you can answer a two-way video call in the EZVIZ app and, if you choose, unlock remotely. A voice changer option disguises your voice. Anyone inside the home can also see the caller on the 4-inch screen before opening.

How do I give our maid or driver access?
Chevron down icon
Enrol their fingerprint or give them their own PIN, and remove it when they leave. The Y2000FVS has no card reader, so cards are not an option. For a one-off visit such as a technician, send a temporary code from the EZVIZ app instead of creating a permanent user.

Is the Y2000FVS a good fit for a holiday home?
Chevron down icon
It works well for a DTCM holiday home. You create temporary codes for guests in the app, see arrivals on camera and speak to guests who are stuck at the door. You manage each code yourself, so plan a routine for creating and deleting them between bookings.

Can I put a camera lock on an apartment door in a shared corridor?
Chevron down icon
Usually yes, but check building management rules first, since some towers restrict cameras and changes to fire doors. Keep the view on your own doorstep. A camera that clearly records a neighbour's door is a common cause of complaints, and we angle and set up detection to avoid that.

How long does installation take, and do you fit it?
Chevron down icon
Yes, we supply and fit the Y2000FVS in Dubai. On a door with a matching 6068 lock body it usually takes a few hours, including Wi-Fi setup, face and fingerprint enrolment and a walk-through of the app. Recutting a door for a different lock body adds time, and we quote that first.

What warranty does the Y2000FVS have in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
The Amazon.ae listing shows a one year manufacturer warranty. EZVIZ also offers a three year extended warranty when an authorised EZVIZ installer fits the lock, with a UAE phone and WhatsApp service line. Keep your invoice and ask your installer which warranty applies before fitting.

Who should not buy the Y2000FVS?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if your door takes a 5085 body and you cannot recut it, if the door bakes in direct sun, or if you want Apple Home. It is also a poor fit if your household relies on access cards, since there is no card reader. Renters without landlord approval should look elsewhere.

What maintenance does the Y2000FVS need?
Chevron down icon
Wipe dust off the camera lens and face sensor with a soft dry cloth, since sand on the glass slows recognition. Recharge the battery when warned, install app firmware updates, and test the mechanical key every few months. Do not spray cleaning liquids directly onto the front panel.
