The X9 is the value pick in Lockin's fingerprint range, and its notable design choice is where the sensor sits. The reader is built into the handle itself, so gripping the handle is the act that reads the finger and opens the door, with no separate pad to aim at. With shopping in both hands in July that is a real difference, and it is the reason this lock reads faster in daily use than its price suggests. Behind the handle it is a conventional replacement lock: PIN keypad, app control through a Wi-Fi gateway, mechanical key override, auto-lock and a per-user log. Set expectations on the biometrics honestly. This is an optical or capacitive fingerprint reader, meaning it reads the ridge pattern on the surface of the fingertip, so wet, dusty or heavily worn fingers will fail more often than they do on the vein-reading locks further up the Lockin range. If the people using the door work with their hands, look at the SV40 or the S5 instead of assuming a better fingerprint sensor will fix it. Lockin support here runs through a distributor rather than a lock showroom.

Grip-to-open is the feature Dubai households notice, because summer here means arriving at the door with hands full and no patience for a reader that needs a second attempt. The limitation is the same one every surface fingerprint lock has: sand, sweat and worn fingertips all reduce the read rate, and a driver or a gardener who has been working outside will fail more often than the family will. Where staff use the door daily, either give them a PIN or move up to the finger vein models. Fitting is a full replacement, so the door gets worked on and tenure decides whether that is possible: most of the roughly 70% of UAE residents who rent will not get permission for it. Lockin warranty here runs through a distributor and through us rather than a showroom.
Lockin in the UAE. Sold through UAE smart home retail. Its palm-vein and finger-vein locks read blood-vessel patterns rather than a fingerprint surface, which is a class of lock most brands here do not offer.
