What exactly is the MOES WiFi Smart Garage Door Controller?

It is a small WiFi relay module that wires into your existing garage door opener. It copies what your wall push button does, so the app can trigger the door. A magnetic sensor on the door tells the app whether it is open or closed. Your motor and remotes stay as they are.

Does it plug into a normal UAE three pin socket?

No. There is no plug and no cable with a Type-G head. The unit has bare screw terminals marked Input N and L, so it has to be wired into a 220 to 240V supply near the opener. Plug fitment questions do not apply to this product at all.

Do I need a wall back box for it?

No. It is not a wall switch, so back box size and adapter plates are irrelevant here. The module is a small plastic box that sits beside the opener motor, usually fixed to the bracket or tucked into a junction box on the ceiling. Nothing on your walls changes.

Does it need a neutral wire?

No. This model talks straight to your home router over WiFi. There is no MOES or Tuya Zigbee gateway to buy for it, and none is sold as a required add on. All you need is a 2.4GHz signal that actually reaches the garage and a spare AC circuit for power.

Smart Life or Tuya, both free on iOS and Android. Either one works, you do not need both. There is no MOES only app to learn and no monthly fee. If you already run other Tuya devices at home, this controller lands in the same app next to them.

Does it work with Alexa and Google Home?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Link the Smart Life or Tuya skill and you can say open the garage or close the garage to Alexa or Google Home. Voice commands that open a door usually ask for a spoken PIN, which we recommend keeping switched on. Closing the door normally works without one.

Will it work with Apple Home and Siri?

Not natively. There is no HomeKit support on this model, so it will not show up in the Apple Home app or respond to Siri out of the box. iPhone users still get full control through the Smart Life app and widgets. If Apple Home matters to you, look at a Matter or HomeKit garage controller instead.

Can I install it myself?

We would rather you did not. Two of the wires are mains, and the other pair goes inside the opener's control panel, which usually means dropping the unit or working off a ladder. A licensed electrician or your garage door company should do it. Our team handles both parts in one visit.

Will it work with my brand of garage door opener?

Most likely. It suits sectional and roller openers that have a pair of low voltage terminals for the wall push button, which covers the common brands fitted in Dubai villas. Send us a photo of the opener's control board and we will tell you before you order whether it will work.

What if my opener has no exposed control terminals?

Accepted Answer

Then this controller alone is not enough. MOES sells a separate self learning remote adapter that pairs with your existing handset and triggers the door by radio instead. It is an extra part and an extra cost, so check the opener first. We can source the adapter with the controller if needed.

I live in an apartment. Can I use this on the building shutter?

If you live in an apartment with a shared basement and a building operated shutter, this is not for you. The controller is for a private garage door you own and are allowed to modify. Older villas are fine, as long as the opener has button terminals and there is a mains point nearby.

What happens if my internet goes down?

Accepted Answer

The app stops working until the connection returns. There is no local fallback and no Bluetooth control on this model, so a router reboot or a Du or Etisalat outage means no phone control for those minutes. Your wall button, your remotes and the manual release cord all keep working normally.

What happens during a power cut?

Nothing works, including the opener itself, because the module and the motor both run on mains. When power returns the module reconnects to WiFi on its own and reports the door state again. Use the manual release handle to lift the door by hand while the power is off.

Does it work on 5GHz WiFi?

No. It joins 2.4GHz networks only, which is normal for cheap Tuya hardware and actually helps, since 2.4GHz travels further into a concrete garage. If your router broadcasts one merged name for both bands, split them during setup or use the guest 2.4GHz network, then merge again afterwards.

Will my existing remotes and wall button still work?

Yes. The module sits in parallel with the wall button, so nothing is disconnected. Your handsets, keypad and wall switch behave exactly as before, and the app becomes one more way in. That matters in a family villa where not everyone wants to install an app.

How does it know whether the door is open or closed?

Through the magnetic sensor in the box. One half fixes to the moving door panel, the other to the frame or floor bracket. When they separate the app shows open. That is also what triggers the left open alert, so you can check from Dubai Mall whether you shut it.

Can I give access to my driver or cleaner?

Yes. Smart Life lets you share the device or the whole home with another account, so a spouse, a driver or a maid can open the door without your password. You can remove that access later in the app. There is no scheduled temporary access on this model, so remember to revoke it.

Is it secure? Could someone open my garage remotely?

Traffic runs through Tuya's cloud with account level security, so the practical risk is a weak password rather than someone intercepting the signal. Use a strong password, turn on two factor in the app, and enable the voice PIN for opening. Do not share your login. That is the same advice we give for any cloud door product.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
