What is the SwitchBot Lock Pro?

It is a retrofit smart lock. It fits on the inside of your door over the existing deadbolt thumb-turn and turns it for you. The outside of the door and your original key cylinder stay the same. You control it from your phone, and it can lock and unlock on its own.

Will it fit my Dubai apartment or villa door?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your lock. The Lock Pro needs a deadbolt with a thumb-turn you can twist by hand on the inside. Many doors here have that. Some use a key on both sides instead, and those need a cylinder change first. Send us a photo of your inside lock and we will tell you.

Can a tenant use it, and will the landlord allow it?

Yes, tenants are a good fit because nothing outside the door changes and it comes off cleanly when you move. Keep the original parts. If your door needs a cylinder swap to work with it, ask your landlord or agent first, since that changes a fixed part of the property.

How is it installed and who fits it?

Accepted Answer

Most people fit it themselves in about twenty to thirty minutes with the included adapters and screws. You attach a mounting plate over the thumb-turn, clip on the lock, then calibrate it in the app. If you would rather not, our team can install it and set up the app for you.

Does it need Wi-Fi or a hub?

Accepted Answer

Not to work day to day. On its own it uses Bluetooth for app control near the door, auto-lock and auto-unlock. You need a SwitchBot Hub 2 or Hub Mini (sold separately) for Wi-Fi, remote access from outside the home, and voice or Apple Home control.

Does it work with Apple Home, Google and Alexa?

Yes, once you add a SwitchBot Hub 2. The hub brings Matter, which connects the lock to Apple Home and Siri, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Without a hub the lock runs through the SwitchBot app only. Voice unlock usually asks for a spoken PIN for safety.

Does fingerprint or face unlock work in Dubai summer heat?

Accepted Answer

There is no face unlock on this lock. Fingerprint needs the separate SwitchBot Keypad Touch, which sits outside by the door. Fingerprint readers can misread with sweaty or very hot fingers, so most people set a PIN as a quick backup. Shade helps, and the app and key always work too.

How long do the batteries last, and what about a power cut?

The four AA batteries are included and last around six to nine months, longer with the optional Dual Power Pack. The app warns you below twenty percent. A power cut does not matter, because the lock runs on its own batteries, not mains power, and you still have the physical key.

Is there a mechanical key backup?

Yes. The Lock Pro keeps your original key cylinder on the outside of the door, so your existing keys still work as before. That is useful as a backup and for anyone who does not use the app. If the batteries ever die, the key gets you in.

How do I give access to guests, staff or a cleaner?

With the Keypad Touch you can hand out PIN codes, including one-time or time-limited ones for a cleaner or guest. In the app you can share access with family members and remove it later. The app keeps a log showing who locked or unlocked the door and when.

Is it secure, and can it be hacked?

App traffic is encrypted, and the lock body sits inside the door where nobody can reach the mechanism. There is no keypad on the outside unless you add one, so there is nothing on the outside to tamper with. Use a strong SwitchBot account password and turn on two-factor login.

Can more than one person use the app?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can invite family or flatmates in the SwitchBot app and give each person their own access. You stay the admin, so you can add or remove people whenever you want. Everyone gets their own entry in the activity log, so you can see who came and went.

Does it work offline or without internet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The lock and Bluetooth control keep working with no internet at all. Auto-lock, auto-unlock and the keypad still work. You only lose remote access from outside and voice control when the internet or hub is down. Everything at the door itself carries on as normal.

You get the Lock Pro body, a mounting bracket and adapter kit for common deadbolt and thumb-turn sizes, four AA batteries, mounting screws and a quick-start guide. The SwitchBot Hub and the Keypad Touch are not included. You buy those separately if you want Wi-Fi, voice, fingerprint or PIN entry.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?

SwitchBot gives a one-year manufacturer warranty on official-store purchases. Buying from Amazon.ae or noon.com adds their standard return window on top. Buy through us and we handle setup and any warranty claim locally, so you are not shipping a lock back and forth on your own.

The lock alone starts around 249 AED. A full setup with a hub and keypad costs more, and we can quote the exact bundle for your door. Message us with a photo of your inside lock and we will confirm the fit, the price and the lead time.

How does it compare to the Yale Linus L2?

Accepted Answer

The Yale Linus L2 is another retrofit lock, popular with Apple Home users and Euro-cylinder doors. It usually costs more than the Lock Pro. The Lock Pro is cheaper and more flexible, but its fingerprint and PIN entry need the separate Keypad Touch, so factor that into the price.

How does it compare to the SwitchBot Lock Ultra?

The Lock Ultra is SwitchBot's higher-end model, with a stronger motor for stiff bolts and faster locking. The Lock Pro does the same core job for less money. If you have a heavy or sticky deadbolt, or you want the newest hardware, the Ultra is worth the step up.

Who should not buy this lock?

Skip it if your door locks with a key on both sides and you cannot change the cylinder, or if your building has a shared access system you are not allowed to alter. If you want fingerprint or PIN with no extra boxes, a built-in keypad lock suits you better.

Can I see if I left the door unlocked?

Accepted Answer

Yes. With a hub connected, the app shows the current lock status and sends a push alert when the door is locked or unlocked. Pair the Hub 2 and you can also get an open-or-closed reading. It is an easy way to check the front door after you have left home.

Does it lock automatically when I leave?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can set auto-lock to turn the deadbolt a set number of seconds after the door closes, so you never leave it open by mistake. Auto-unlock can open it as you walk up with your phone. You can turn either off if you prefer to lock by hand.

Will it fit a heavy villa security door?

Accepted Answer

Often yes, as long as that door has a deadbolt with an inside thumb-turn. Very stiff or misaligned deadbolts can strain the motor, so the bolt should turn smoothly by hand first. If it sticks, get the door adjusted, or consider the Lock Ultra for its stronger motor.

Does it need DEWA or SIRA approval?

No. This is a battery lock that fits over your own door on the inside, so it does not touch DEWA power or need SIRA sign-off for a normal home. Building management may have rules about main entrance doors, so check with them if you live in a managed tower.

What happens if I move to a new home?

You unclip the lock, refit the original thumb-turn cover, and take the Lock Pro with you. As long as the new door has a compatible deadbolt, you reinstall and recalibrate in the app. Keep the box and adapters so moving it later is simple.
