Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Yale Luna Pro+ is Yale's top face recognition lock for the UAE, a push-pull mortise lock that opens as you walk up. It suits owners of villa main doors who want hands-free entry and Yale's local support. It is not for tenants or fire-rated tower doors. It reads faces with 3D structured light and also opens by fingerprint, PIN, RFID tag, the Yale Home app or one of two keys. The fully automatic lock case throws the bolt when the door closes. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery powers it, with a USB-C port for emergency power. Door fit is straightforward on a solid door. Yale lists a 60 mm backset, doors 40 to 100 mm thick and either handing. It replaces your current lock body, so we measure the cut-out first. What else to buy: Yale's UAE page says the Yale Access BLE module and Access Bridge are sold separately, and you need them for remote control and alerts. Where it sits: the Yale YDM4109A is the cheaper fingerprint and PIN choice, while the Linus L2 is the tenant-friendly retrofit. The Luna Pro+ adds face recognition, RFID and push-pull handling. Limits: there is no camera, IP52 in Yale's Australian listing means a covered entrance, and Apple Home is not listed for the UAE.

  • Opens by 3D face scan as you reach the door
  • Rechargeable battery with USB-C emergency power
  • Push-pull handle with automatic bolt throw
  • Separate faces, PINs and tags for family and staff

What to check before you order

The Luna Pro+ is a mortise lock, which matches how most Dubai villa and apartment main doors are built. Yale lists a 60 mm backset and 40 to 100 mm door thickness, and it fits either handing, so most solid villa doors take it. It replaces the existing lock body with Yale's automatic lock case, so we measure the cut-out and may need to adjust the door edge. Tower entrance doors are usually fire-rated, and changing the lock body needs landlord and building approval, so tenants should look at the Yale Linus L2. Yale's Australian listing rates it IP52 and minus 25 to 70 C, fine for a covered villa porch but worth a canopy on a sun-facing door. The battery is rechargeable, with USB-C emergency power if it runs flat during a trip. Remote access needs the separate Yale Access Bridge on your Wi-Fi. Yale has local UAE sales and service.

Where can I buy the Luna Pro+ in Dubai?

Yale's UAE website points buyers to Amazon and e&, and the lock is on noon from marketplace sellers. Amazon.ae had the lowest genuine in-stock price when we checked. We also supply and fit it after measuring your door.

How does the Luna Pro+ face recognition work?
Chevron down icon
Yale uses its Face Scan technology with 3D structured light, which reads the shape of a face rather than a flat photo. Yale quotes recognition in under 1.2 seconds, a false acceptance rate below 0.001%, and a working range of 40 to 100 cm for people 120 to 190 cm tall.

Can children use face recognition?
Chevron down icon
Only once they are tall enough. Yale lists a face recognition height range of 120 to 190 cm, so younger children should use a fingerprint, a PIN or an RFID tag. Up to 50 fingerprints and 100 RFID tags can be registered, which covers a large family.

Will the Luna Pro+ fit my Dubai villa door?
Chevron down icon
Usually, on a solid door you own. Yale lists a 60 mm backset and a door thickness of 40 to 100 mm, which covers most villa main doors. It replaces your existing mortise lock body with Yale's automatic lock case, so we measure the door edge and cut-out before quoting.

Is it left or right handed?
Chevron down icon
Yale lists it as suitable for both left and right hand doors, so the same lock works on either swing. We set the handing during installation. Push-pull means you push the handle to open from outside and pull from inside, with no lever to turn.

Does it work on glass, aluminium or metal doors?
Chevron down icon
It is built for doors thick enough to take a mortise lock case, 40 to 100 mm. Frameless glass doors and thin aluminium sliding doors are not suitable. Steel doors can work if the door maker's cut-out matches, which we check on site.

Can I fit it on a tower apartment door?
Chevron down icon
Only with written approval from the landlord and building management. Most tower entrance doors are fire-rated, and replacing the lock body can affect that rating. Tenants who want a smart lock without touching the door are better served by the Yale Linus L2 retrofit lock.

Do I need a Wi-Fi bridge?
Chevron down icon
For remote access, yes. Yale's UAE page says the Yale Access BLE module and Yale Access Bridge are sold separately. Without them the lock works fully at the door by face, fingerprint, PIN, tag and key, but you cannot open it, lock it or get alerts from outside the home.

Which app does it use, and does it work in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
It uses the Yale Home app, which was listed in the UAE App Store in September 2026. The app handles users, schedules, the activity log and remote control through the bridge. Yale runs local sales and service in the UAE, so support is not a foreign-only arrangement.

Does it work with Alexa, Google or Apple Home?
Chevron down icon
Yale's Australian listing links voice assistants through its Wi-Fi hub, but the UAE page does not list voice or Apple Home support. Treat it as a Yale Home app lock. If voice control matters to you, we confirm what the UAE bridge supports before you buy.

How long does the battery last?
Chevron down icon
Yale's Australian listing quotes about 9 to 12 months per charge depending on use. Face recognition and the automatic lock case use more power than a basic keypad lock, so busy villa entrances sit at the lower end. The lock warns you when the battery runs low.

What if the battery runs flat?
Chevron down icon
Connect a power bank to the USB-C emergency port on the outside, and the lock wakes up so you can open it by face, fingerprint or PIN. The two mechanical keys are the second fallback. We suggest keeping one key in the car rather than inside the house.

What happens in a DEWA power cut or internet outage?
Chevron down icon
Nothing changes at the door, because the lock runs on its own battery. Face, fingerprint, PIN, tag and key all keep working. If the internet or the bridge loses power, remote control and alerts stop until the connection returns.

Can it handle Dubai summer heat?
Chevron down icon
Yale's Australian listing rates it for minus 25 to 70 C with an IP52 rating, which means drip and dust protection but not direct rain or water jets. That suits a covered villa entrance. On an exposed, sun-facing door, a canopy protects the lock and battery.

How do I give the maid, driver or guests access?
Chevron down icon
Add a PIN, fingerprint, RFID tag or face for each person, so every entry shows under their name in the Yale Home app. With the bridge fitted, you can manage access remotely. When someone leaves, delete their credentials and nothing else changes.

Is the Luna Pro+ good for a holiday home?
Chevron down icon
It works well on a villa holiday home with the bridge fitted, since you can add and remove PINs remotely and see the log. The limit is apartments. Most DTCM holiday homes are tower flats with fire-rated doors, where changing the lock body needs building approval.

How secure is the Yale Luna Pro+?
Chevron down icon
The face scan reads depth with 3D structured light rather than a flat image, and the keypad supports fake PIN entry so onlookers cannot copy your code. Yale lists a break-in and tamper alarm, and the fully automatic lock case throws the bolt as the door closes. The mechanical key cylinder remains a standard fallback.

How does it compare with the Yale YDM4109A?
Chevron down icon
The YDM4109A opens by fingerprint, PIN and key, runs on AA batteries and costs less. The Luna Pro+ adds 3D face recognition, RFID tags, a push-pull handle, a rechargeable battery and an automatic lock case. Choose the Luna Pro+ if hands-free entry matters.

Luna Pro+ or the Aqara D200i?
Chevron down icon
Both use 3D face recognition on a mortise-type door. The Aqara D200i adds Apple Home Key and Apple Home support, which suits iPhone households. The Luna Pro+ brings Yale's UAE sales and service network and a push-pull handle. Pick by ecosystem and support preference.

Luna Pro+ or the Philips DDL702-FVP?
Chevron down icon
The Philips DDL702-FVP is a 3D face lock with a video camera and indoor screen, so you can see visitors. The Luna Pro+ has no camera. If seeing who is at the door matters, the Philips suits you. If you want Yale support, pick Luna Pro+ and add a video doorbell.

Who should not buy the Luna Pro+?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you rent, if your door is fire-rated in a tower, if the door is under 40 mm or glass, or if you want a built-in camera or Apple Home. Buyers who only need fingerprint and PIN can save money with the Yale YDM4109A.

How long does installation take, and do you fit it?
Chevron down icon
On a door that already has a compatible mortise cut-out, fitting and setup take around one to two hours. A door that needs the cut-out changed takes longer. Yes, our technicians supply and fit it, and we measure the door first.

What maintenance does it need?
Chevron down icon
Charge the battery when the app or lock warns you. Wipe the face camera, fingerprint sensor and keypad with a soft cloth, especially after dust storms. Test the mechanical key every few months, and keep the Yale Home app and lock firmware updated.
