Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Cube is a scene controller you operate by moving it, and it is more useful than it first sounds. Flip it, rotate it, tap it or shake it, and each gesture triggers a different scene through the Aqara hub. Rotation is the part that earns its place: turning the cube dims a light smoothly, which is a far better bedside control than pressing a button repeatedly or opening a phone at night. It is battery powered with no wiring, so it sits on a bedside table, a coffee table or a desk, and it can move between rooms without any installation at all. Like every controller in this group it sends commands rather than switching a circuit, so the lights it operates need to be smart already through bulbs, modules or switches. The honest limits: gestures have to be learned, which suits the people who live in the house and not guests, and a cube on a table is a thing children and cleaners will pick up. In a master bedroom or a study it works well. On a majlis wall where guests need obvious controls, the S1E panel is the right answer instead.

  • Rotate to dim a light smoothly without a phone
  • Several scenes from one object, one per gesture
  • No wiring, so it works in any rented apartment
  • Moves from room to room with no reinstallation

What to check before you order

Nothing about this touches the electrical installation, so it works in older Dubai apartments where the switch box has no neutral and no mains smart switch can be fitted. Paired with smart bulbs in a bedside lamp, it gives a tenant proper dimming control with no alteration to the property. In villas we put one on the master bedside table where the developer's only switch is by the door. It needs an Aqara hub in the property, so it is an addition to an Aqara home rather than a starting point on its own. Keep the gestures simple if more than one person in the household will use it.

Aqara in the UAE. Sold through several authorised UAE resellers rather than one exclusive distributor. Wide local stock and the broadest single-hub ecosystem available in UAE retail.

Questions about the Aqara Cube T1 Pro

What can each gesture do?

Flip to a face, rotate, tap, shake and push are each assignable to a different scene or device action. A common bedside setup is rotate to dim the lamp, flip to run a night scene for the whole house and tap to turn the lamp off.

Does it need to be near the light it controls?
Chevron down icon
No. It talks to the Aqara hub over Zigbee, and the hub controls the devices, so it can sit anywhere within mesh range and control lights anywhere in the house. Mains powered Aqara switches and modules extend that mesh as you add them.

Is it practical for a household with guests?
Chevron down icon
For the people who live there, yes. For guests, no, because the gestures have to be learned and there are no labels. Put a cube in a bedroom or a study and use a labelled panel or a plain button in rooms where visitors control the lighting.
