The S1E is a scene controller with a display rather than a wall switch, and it belongs in a villa reception or majlis where one panel should run the whole room. Because it is a controller rather than a mains switch, it does not sit in the electrical path of any circuit: it sends commands to the hub, and the hub runs the lighting, the curtains, the air conditioning setpoint and whatever else you have put into a scene. That is what makes it usable on a wall where there is no switch box, and it is a genuinely different proposition from replacing a plate. The screen is the part clients notice, since it gives labelled scenes rather than a row of unmarked buttons that guests have to guess at. On a majlis wall where evening lighting, day lighting and a cleaning-mode setting need to be one press each for people who do not live there, that clarity is the whole value. It is the most expensive controller in this group and it earns that only in a room where it is seen and used constantly. In a bedroom or corridor, the plain mini switch does the same work for a third of the price.

This suits a Dubai majlis or villa reception, where guests use the room and a row of unmarked rockers is not good enough. Because it controls rather than switches, it can go on a gypsum partition wall with no back box, which gives real freedom about where the control point sits: beside the seating rather than by the door the developer chose. The neutral wire question does not apply to it, so it works in properties where no mains smart switch can be fitted, provided the lights themselves have been made smart by bulbs, modules or switches elsewhere. It needs an Aqara hub in the property.
