This is not a switch in the electrical sense and understanding that is the whole point. It is a battery button on Zigbee that sends a command to the Aqara hub, and the hub then does whatever you told it to. Nothing is wired, nothing is cut into the wall, and it can go on a bedside table, on the inside of a wardrobe door or beside a bed in a rented apartment where the tenancy agreement forbids touching the electrics. Single press, double press and long press are each assignable, so one button can turn the bedside lamp off, run a whole-house night scene and dim the corridor. In a Dubai villa it solves the most common handover complaint we hear, which is that the developer put the only bedroom switch by the door. In a rented flat it is the tenant-friendly route to lighting control, paired with smart bulbs or with a module fitted where the landlord permits one. The thing to be clear about before ordering: the lights it commands have to be smart already. The button sends an instruction, it does not switch a circuit.

The wiring question that governs the rest of this category does not apply here, which is exactly why it matters in Dubai. In an older apartment with no neutral at the box, where no mains smart switch can be fitted at all, this button plus smart bulbs is a complete solution that leaves the electrical installation untouched and satisfies a tenancy agreement barring alterations. In villas we use it as a bedside control in master bedrooms where the only switch is by the door, and inside walk-in wardrobes and store rooms where nobody wants to chase a new circuit through gypsum. It needs an Aqara hub in the property, so it makes most sense in a home already running Aqara.
