Overview

What it is and where it fits

The T2 is the two circuit version of the same idea, and double rocker plates are the most common layout in Dubai bedrooms and living rooms, so this is the module we fit most. One module hides in the back box behind an existing two gang plate and takes both circuits smart at once, typically the ceiling light and the balcony or wall light. Each circuit appears as its own device in Apple Home, Alexa or Google through the Aqara hub, so they schedule separately and sit in different scenes, while the physical rockers on the plate carry on working for anyone who wants nothing to do with any of it. The economics are better than the single module too, since one device covers two circuits. It also handles more than lighting: the second channel is often used on a fan point or an extract fan where the plate has a mixed pair. Same two constraints as any in-wall module. A neutral has to be present at the box, and there has to be depth behind the plate. Check both on one plate before ordering for a whole floor.

  • Two circuits made smart by one hidden module
  • The existing double rocker plate stays exactly as it is
  • Each circuit schedules and automates independently
  • Cheaper per circuit than fitting two single modules

What to check before you order

Double rocker plates pairing a ceiling light with a balcony light are standard in Dubai apartments and villa bedrooms, which is why this module suits so many rooms here. It sits in the back box, so the plate and the finish are untouched, which matters in a villa where the switch plates were specified with the joinery. It needs a neutral at the box and enough depth behind the plate, and shallow boxes in older apartment buildings are the common blocker. Where the plate is ordinary white plastic and there is nothing to preserve, a two gang smart switch is usually the tidier answer.

Questions about the Aqara Dual Relay Module T2

Can one module control two different rooms?

It controls the two circuits wired into that one back box, so in practice it is whatever the plate already switches. A plate that runs a bedroom ceiling light and a balcony light gives you those two under independent control. It cannot reach a circuit in another part of the house.

Do both rockers keep working?

Yes. The module sits behind them and reports their state, so the plate behaves exactly as it always did and the app stays in sync with whatever anyone does at the wall.

Is one dual module better than two single modules?
Chevron down icon
For a two gang plate, yes. It costs less than two singles and takes less space in a back box, which is often the deciding factor. Two singles only make sense when the circuits sit in different boxes.
