Choose the surface mounted T1 when the ceiling will not take a recess. That covers concrete soffits in apartments, ceilings already finished and painted, and any run where the void above is too shallow for a driver. The fitting sits proud on the surface and takes its supply from the existing ceiling point, which turns what would be a cutting and patching job into a mounting job. Everything on the control side matches the recessed range: Zigbee through an Aqara hub, per-fitting dimming, grouping in the app, and tunable white that runs cool through the day and warm in the evening. Surface spots also aim, which recessed fittings mostly do not, so they are the better answer where the light has a job to do on a specific surface: a picture wall, a stone feature in a majlis, shelving in a study. Two things to settle before ordering. Surface fittings are visible objects, so the finish matters as much as the beam. And each fitting still needs a live ceiling point, so a run of six spots across a wall means either six points or a track. Where it means a track, price the H1 Pro track system instead.

Dubai apartment towers are largely concrete slab with a shallow or absent ceiling void, which is exactly the case a surface fitting solves: no aperture, no driver hidden above, no making good. In villas we use them on plant room, garage and utility ceilings for the same reason, and in majlis and living spaces where the light needs aiming at a feature rather than washing the floor. Each spot needs a live point in the ceiling, so a row across a wall usually costs more in first fix than the fittings themselves. Where the answer is one supply feeding several heads, look at track.
