What exactly is this MOES switch?

It is a battery powered Zigbee button panel, not a mains switch. Four buttons sit on an 86 by 86mm plate that sticks to any surface. Press them and they send scene commands through a Zigbee gateway to your other smart devices. It carries no electrical load at all.

Will it fit my wall switch box?

Accepted Answer

The question does not apply here. There is no back box, nothing screws into the wiring and nothing goes behind the gypsum. The panel is 13mm thick and sits on the surface using the double-sided tape in the box, or two small screws if you want it permanent.

Does it need a neutral wire?

Accepted Answer

No. It never connects to the mains, so the neutral question that blocks most smart switches in older Dubai apartments is simply not part of this product. That is the main reason we suggest it for flats in Deira, Karama and Al Nahda where the boxes have live and switched live only.

Do I need a hub or gateway?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and this is the part people miss. The switch is Zigbee only, not WiFi, so it does nothing on its own. A MOES or Tuya Zigbee 3.0 gateway must be running in the property before the button can pair or trigger anything. Budget for one.

Question 5

Which gateway works with it?

Accepted Answer

The MOES Zigbee gateway sold under ASIN B091BRGMTZ or B09LM644XJ is the one the listing names. Most Tuya branded Zigbee 3.0 hubs also work, since they share the same app and cloud. If you already have a Tuya hub for curtains or sensors, you can usually reuse it.

Which app do I use to set it up?

Accepted Answer

Either the MOES app or Smart Life, which is the Tuya app. Both see the gateway, and both let you assign a single press, a double press and a long press to separate scenes. We normally set clients up on Smart Life, because their other Tuya devices already live there.

Question 7

Does it work with Alexa, Google Home or Apple Home?

Accepted Answer

Not directly, and the Amazon listing states that plainly. The button itself is invisible to Alexa, Google and Siri. What it triggers can still be voice controlled through those assistants if the target devices support them. The button is a Tuya side control, not an Apple Home accessory.

Can I fit it myself or do I need an electrician?

You can fit this one yourself. Peel the tape, stick it on a clean dry wall, then pair it in the app. No wiring and no tools beyond a screwdriver if you choose screws. Our electricians are only needed for the devices it commands, such as no-neutral modules or curtain motors.

Will it work in an older Dubai apartment?

Yes, and it suits them better than most switches do. Older buildings in Deira and Bur Dubai rarely have a neutral at the switch box, and many tenancy contracts ban altering the electrics. A stick-on button with smart bulbs or plugs behind it gives real control with nothing touched.

What can it actually control?

Accepted Answer

Anything already on your Tuya or MOES account through the gateway: smart bulbs, in-wall modules, plugs, curtain motors, AC controllers and multi device scenes. It cannot control a plain bulb on a plain circuit. Something smart has to sit in that circuit first for the button to have a job.

How do I get 12 scenes out of 4 buttons?

Each button reads three separate actions: one press, two quick presses, and a press held down. Four buttons times three actions gives twelve triggers. In practice most clients program four or five they will remember, and leave the rest empty rather than confusing guests.

What battery does it use and how long does it last?

Accepted Answer

A CR2430 3V coin cell, rated at roughly 730 days of normal use. It only draws power at the moment of a press, which is why it lasts. One graphic on the Amazon page says CR2032, and that is wrong. The correct cell is the CR2430.

Does it still work if the internet goes down?

Accepted Answer

Mostly yes. The button talks to the gateway over Zigbee locally, so a scene involving only local Zigbee devices usually still fires with the router offline. Anything depending on the Tuya cloud, or on a WiFi device inside the scene, will not run until the line is back.

What happens if the gateway is unplugged or fails?

The button stops working completely. There is no local fallback and no direct radio path to your lights. Keep the gateway on a socket nobody switches off, ideally on a small UPS. Your ordinary wall switches still control your lights the normal way in the meantime.

How does it compare to the Aqara Wireless Mini Switch T1?

Accepted Answer

The Aqara is one button with three actions and needs an Aqara hub, but through that hub it reaches Apple Home, Alexa and Google. The MOES gives four buttons and twelve actions for similar money, and stays inside Tuya. Pick by which hub you already run at home.

How does it compare to a Sonoff button or the Philips Hue Tap Dial?

Sonoff sits in the same budget bracket and also needs its own bridge. The Hue Tap Dial is the nicest to use and has a real dial, but it only controls Hue lights and costs several times more. MOES wins on buttons per dirham, not on polish.

Can I use it with Home Assistant or Zigbee2MQTT?

Yes. Verified buyers report it pairing to Zigbee2MQTT and Home Assistant through a standard coordinator such as a Conbee II stick, with all twelve actions exposed. That route skips the MOES gateway entirely. We can set it up this way if you already run Home Assistant.

Can I put it outside on a terrace or by the villa gate?

We do not recommend it. The rated operating range stops at 45C and there is no weather rating, so a sun-facing wall, a balcony or a gate post in July will cook it. Keep it indoors. For outdoor triggers we fit a rated outdoor sensor or keypad instead.

Is it suitable for a rented apartment?

Yes. Nothing is drilled, nothing is rewired and no landlord permission is needed for the button itself. The tape holds well on painted plaster and lifts off with gentle heat at the end of the tenancy. The gateway plugs into any normal socket and leaves with you.

Can it control the fan coil AC in my tower apartment?

Accepted Answer

Only if the AC is already smart. Put a Tuya thermostat on the fan coil, or an IR blaster in front of a split unit, and then the button can run a cooling scene. The button on its own does nothing to a standard wall thermostat.

How many of these can I put around the house?

A Tuya Zigbee gateway usually handles dozens of end devices, so several buttons are no problem: one by the bed, one in the majlis, one near the main door. Each pairs separately with its own twelve actions. Keep them in range of the gateway or a mains Zigbee repeater.

Does it need a plug socket or any power point?

Accepted Answer

No. The button runs on its coin cell only, so there is no cable and no BS1363 Type-G plug to find. The only thing needing a socket is the gateway, which uses a small adapter and should sit somewhere central, not buried inside a metal media cabinet.

Buying through the Amazon.ae listing gives you the marketplace returns window from the seller, not a local MOES service centre. There is no MOES walk-in support in Dubai. If we supply and set it up, we handle the replacement conversation for you and stand behind our own configuration work.
