Overview

What it is and where it fits

A Zigbee wall switch with a 10GHz mmWave presence radar built into the same faceplate. Instead of a switch on the wall plus a separate motion sensor on the ceiling, you fit one part. The radar reads micro-motion and breathing, so the light stays on while you sit or stand still and only times out once you have really left. That suits a corridor, a bathroom, a laundry or a villa store room, where a normal PIR keeps dropping the light on you. The wiring is the strong part for Dubai. No neutral wire and no capacitor are needed. It runs on a single live wire with a magnetic latching relay, so you avoid the flicker and faint glow that capacitor-based no-neutral switches cause on LED lamps. Older apartments in Karama, Deira or Al Nahda rarely have a neutral at the switch box, and this design is made for that. Budget for one extra item. It is Zigbee only, so it needs a Tuya Zigbee 3.0 gateway, sold separately, roughly AED 79.50. Without that hub it will not pair with the Tuya or Smart Life app at all. Be realistic about the brand. MOES is the affordable Tuya option beside Aqara, Sonoff and Tapo, not a premium one. This model has no timer or schedule function. The Amazon.ae listing is also new, with 15 ratings at 3.5 stars and about a third of buyers reporting a unit that did not work.

  • Switch and presence radar in one plate, so no separate ceiling sensor to fit
  • Works with no neutral wire and no capacitor, so no LED flicker or faint glow
  • Radar reads breathing, so the light holds while you sit still and clears after you leave
  • From AED 65, one of the cheapest ways to automate a corridor, bathroom or store room

Specifications

Model ZigBee no-neutral switch with 10GHz mmWave presence sensor (1-gang B0G5M1FYFT / 2-gang B0G5LXQ2R1)

ProtocolZigbee 3.0 on the Tuya ecosystem. Needs a Tuya Zigbee gateway. This is not a standalone WiFi device.
Wiring / neutralNo neutral wire and no capacitor required. Single live wire design with a magnetic latching relay, which avoids the flicker and ghost fire issue of capacitor based no-neutral switches.
Presence sensorBuilt-in 10GHz mmWave radar detects human presence through micro-motion and breathing, not just gross movement. Lights stay on while the occupant is stationary and switch off only after they truly leave.
Gang options1-Gang (AED 65.00, ASIN B0G5M1FYFT) and 2-Gang (AED 69.00, ASIN B0G5LXQ2R1). One integrated radar per unit, mappable in the Tuya app to trigger a single specific gang on multi-gang models.
Power / load220 to 240V AC, 50/60Hz. Minimum load 7W for LED lamps. Standby consumption under 60uA.
App / automationRuns on the Tuya or Smart Life app. Presence-triggered automation and manual control only. This model does not support scheduled timers or countdowns.
FitsRetrofits a standard 86mm single wall box per the manufacturer's own description, which matches the UK style BS1363 Type-G sizing used in the UAE. Exact screw and back-box pattern is not published by MOES.
Gateway requirementRequires a Tuya Zigbee 3.0 hub, sold separately. Without it the switch cannot pair with the app at all.

What to check before you order

Fitment: MOES does not publish a back box or screw spacing sheet for this switch, which is normal for its switch range. Both listings only say it retrofits an 86mm wall box, and 86mm matches the UK style BS1363 pattern used across the UAE, so it will very likely drop into your existing box. We do not guarantee that from a listing. Our electrician opens the box, measures the screw centres and the depth on site, and fits an adapter plate if the pattern is off. Depth matters most, since the radar module sits behind the plate and some older Dubai boxes are shallow. Wiring: no neutral needed, so it works in older Karama, Deira, Satwa and Al Nahda apartments where the switch box has only live and switched live. Power is 220 to 240V, which matches DEWA supply. A licensed electrician should do the swap, not the resident. We isolate the circuit at the DB, terminate the switch, then pair it to your Tuya Zigbee hub and test the presence timeout before we leave.

MOES in the UAE. A value brand in the Tuya and Zigbee ecosystem, sold in the UAE mainly through its own Amazon.ae store with genuine local stock and review history. Best known among smart-home enthusiasts for retrofit modules, no-neutral switches and scene controllers rather than as a household name. Most devices run on the Smart Life or Tuya app, and the Zigbee ones need a MOES or Tuya gateway. Note that MOES rarely states the wall-box pattern on its switch listings, so we confirm back-box fit before fitting one.

Questions about the MOES Zigbee Wall Switch with Built-In Presence Sensor

What is the MOES switch with presence sensor?
Chevron down icon
It is a Zigbee wall switch with a 10GHz mmWave presence radar built into the faceplate. It replaces your normal light switch, turns the light on when someone walks in, and turns it off once the room is empty. One part does the job of a switch plus a ceiling sensor.

Will it fit the wall box in my Dubai apartment?
Chevron down icon
Most likely yes. MOES says it retrofits a standard 86mm wall box, which is the UK style size used across the UAE. MOES does not publish exact screw spacing though, so we check your box on site before we promise a clean fit, and we carry an adapter plate for odd patterns.

Does it need a neutral wire?
Chevron down icon
No. This is a genuine no-neutral switch. It runs from a single live wire and uses a magnetic latching relay instead of a capacitor, so you avoid the flicker and faint glow that capacitor type no-neutral switches cause on LED lamps. That makes it a good match for older Dubai flats.

Do I need a hub or gateway?
Chevron down icon
Yes, and this catches people out. The switch is Zigbee only, not WiFi. Without a Tuya Zigbee 3.0 gateway it cannot pair with the app at all. Budget around AED 79.50 for a MOES Zigbee gateway, or use any Tuya Zigbee 3.0 hub you already own at home.

Which gateway works with it?
Chevron down icon
Any Tuya Zigbee 3.0 gateway that runs on the Tuya or Smart Life app. The MOES ZigBee Smart Home Gateway is the cheap safe pick at about AED 79.50 on amazon.ae. One gateway covers many devices, so you buy it once for the whole apartment, not once per switch.

Which app controls it?
Chevron down icon
Tuya Smart or Smart Life. Both run the same platform, so pick one and stay on it. You add the gateway first, then pair the switch to the gateway, then set the presence rule, the hold time and which gang the radar should trigger.

Does it work with Alexa and Google Home?
Chevron down icon
Yes, through the gateway. You link your Tuya or Smart Life account to Alexa or Google Home and the switch appears as a light you can control by voice. Voice control depends on the gateway and your internet being up, since it runs through the cloud.

Does it work with Apple Home?
Chevron down icon
Not directly. There is no HomeKit or Matter support on this model. If Apple Home matters to you, we would point you at an Aqara or Matter certified switch instead. A bridge is possible but adds cost and fuss that defeats the point of a budget switch.

Can I install it myself?
Chevron down icon
We do not recommend it. This is live wiring inside a wall box on a 220 to 240V circuit. In Dubai that work belongs to a licensed electrician. Our team isolates the circuit at the DB, checks the box depth, terminates the switch, then pairs and tests the automation.

Will it work in an older Dubai apartment?
Chevron down icon
That is where it is strongest. Buildings in Karama, Deira, Satwa and Al Nahda usually have no neutral at the switch box, which rules out most smart switches. This one needs only the live wire. Zigbee range is the other thing we check, because thick block walls cut signal.

How is the radar different from a normal motion sensor?
Chevron down icon
A PIR sensor only sees big movement, so it drops the light when you sit still on the sofa or at a desk. This 10GHz radar picks up micro-motion and breathing, so it holds the light while you are stationary and clears only once the room is genuinely empty.

What happens if my internet goes down?
Chevron down icon
Local control keeps working. The radar and the switch talk to the gateway over Zigbee inside your home, so lights still come on and go off. What you lose is app control from outside the house, voice assistants and any cloud based scenes until the line is back.

What if the gateway fails or gets unplugged?
Chevron down icon
You lose the automation, not the light. The plate is still a real switch with a physical button, so nobody is left in the dark. Once the gateway has power again the switch rejoins the Zigbee mesh on its own, usually with no repairing needed.

Can I still switch the light by hand?
Chevron down icon
Yes. The button on the plate works like any other switch, so guests, the maid or family members who never open an app can use it normally. The presence automation sits on top of that, and you can switch the automation off in the Tuya app whenever you want.

Does it have a timer or a schedule function?
Chevron down icon
No, and this is the main limitation. This model does not support countdowns or scheduled on and off times. Control is manual, presence based, or through a Tuya scene linked to another device. If schedules matter, the plain MOES no-neutral Zigbee switch is the better buy.

Will it work with my LED downlights?
Chevron down icon
It needs at least 7W of load, so one small LED lamp on its own may be too little. A row of downlights or a normal ceiling fitting is fine. Very low loads can show faint glow or flicker on any no-neutral switch, so tell us the wattage before you order.

Should I get the 1-gang or the 2-gang?
Chevron down icon
The 1-gang at AED 65 suits a corridor, bathroom or store room with one light. The 2-gang at AED 69 controls two circuits. There is still only one radar inside, and you map it in the app to trigger one specific gang while the other stays manual.

How does it compare with the Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2?
Chevron down icon
They do different jobs. The Aqara P2 is a battery sensor you mount on a wall or ceiling, and it supports Apple Home and Matter. This MOES puts the switch and the sensor in one plate with no batteries to change. Aqara is better built and costs more.

How does it compare with Sonoff or the plain MOES no-neutral switch?
Chevron down icon
A Sonoff or the standard MOES no-neutral Zigbee switch gives you a more proven switch with timers, but no presence detection, so you would buy a separate sensor. This model saves that second device and the ceiling fixing, and trades away schedules and a long review history.

Is it reliable? What do the reviews actually say?
Chevron down icon
We will be straight with you. The Amazon.ae listing is new and shares a pool of 15 ratings at 3.5 stars, split between happy buyers and roughly a third who report a unit that did not work at all. The Best Seller badge sits on a thin sample, not a proven track record.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
Buying on Amazon.ae gives you the standard Amazon return window with MOES-HOUSE as the seller, which is the real protection here given the mixed reviews. If we supply and install, we bench test the unit first and handle a dead on arrival swap for you instead of leaving you to chase the seller.

How much is it and how do I buy it through you?
Chevron down icon
It starts at AED 65 for the 1-gang and AED 69 for the 2-gang on Amazon.ae, plus about AED 79.50 for the gateway if you do not have one. Send us the room count and photos of your switch boxes and we will quote parts and installation together.

I saw it on noon at a much higher price. Which one is right?
Chevron down icon
Amazon.ae is the honest price. The same 2-gang unit sits on noon through a third party reseller under a generic brand tag at about AED 241, roughly three and a half times more, with no rating history. There is no reason to pay that for the same product.

Can I use it in a bathroom or a villa store room?
Chevron down icon
Yes, and those are the best rooms for it. A store room, laundry or guest bathroom is where hands are full and lights get left burning. Keep the plate in the normal switch position outside the shower splash zone, because it carries no IP rating for direct water.

Will the radar trigger from the corridor outside the room?
Chevron down icon
It can. mmWave radar reads movement through thin partitions and doors, which causes false triggers in small Dubai flats. Sensitivity and detection distance are adjustable in the Tuya app, and we tune them on site so someone walking past the door does not switch your light on.

Can I use it to control the AC or a fan?
Chevron down icon
No. Keep it on lighting circuits. Tower apartments in Dubai run fan coil units from a thermostat, not a wall switch, and this relay is sized for lamps with a 7W minimum load. For AC control we would fit a proper smart thermostat instead.

Who should not buy this switch?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you are on Apple Home, if you need timers or schedules, if the room has under 7W of lighting load, or if you want a premium finish for a villa majlis. Skip it too if you want a product with years of proven reviews behind it.
