The MOES No-Neutral Zigbee Smart Wall Switch replaces your existing light switch with a flat touch panel that your phone and your voice can also control. It is a ZigBee 3.0 device, not WiFi. That means it talks to a Tuya or MOES ZigBee hub, and the hub talks to your router. Budget for that hub as a second line item. Without one the panel still switches your lights by touch, but you get no app, no schedules and no Alexa or Google voice control. The headline feature is the wiring. Most smart switches need a neutral wire at the back box, and many older Dubai apartments simply do not have one. This panel runs off the single live wire, with no capacitor across the lamp. A neutral is only needed if you want the built-in 2/3-way mode, where two switches control one light. It suits renters and owners who want app control of ceiling lights, majlis downlights or a bedroom circuit without rewiring the flat. It comes in 1, 2 or 3 gang, grey or white, and each paired switch repeats the ZigBee mesh for the next one. Be clear on what MOES is. It is the affordable Tuya option next to Aqara, Sonoff and Tapo, not a premium brand. Build quality and app polish sit below Aqara, there is no Apple Home support, and some buyers report fiddly pairing with third party hubs.
Model ZigBee no-neutral wall switch (1/2/3 gang)
| Protocol | ZigBee 3.0 on the Tuya ecosystem. Not WiFi, so it needs a Tuya or MOES ZigBee hub to reach your 2.4GHz network. |
| Wiring and neutral requirement | Runs on a single live wire. No neutral and no capacitor needed for basic on and off. A neutral is required only for the optional 2/3-way multi-control mode. |
| Working voltage | AC 100 to 250V, 50/60Hz, which covers UAE 220 to 240V mains. |
| Load rating | 10A total current. Inductive load (LED and CFL) 3 to 120W. Resistive load (incandescent) 3 to 600W at 220V. |
| Standby power draw | 0.5W or less. |
| Gang options and finish | 1, 2 or 3 gang. Grey or white. Flat square capacitive touch panel, not a mechanical rocker. |
| App and voice control | Smart Life and Tuya app. Alexa and Google Home voice control through the hub. Timers, countdown, schedules and family sharing. |
| Gateway requirement | MOES or Tuya ZigBee hub required, sold separately. Each paired switch also works as a ZigBee mesh repeater. |
MOES does not publish a back box standard for this switch, not on its Amazon.ae listing and not on moeshouse.com. The panel is a flat square capacitive plate, which matches the 86mm square boxes used in many Dubai builds, but that is a visual match and not a stated spec. So we measure your existing box on site before we order, and we may fit a mounting or adapter plate on older or odd sized boxes. Voltage is not an issue: the switch takes 100 to 250V, which covers UAE 220 to 240V mains. The no-neutral part matters here. Plenty of older apartments in Deira, Bur Dubai, Karama and Al Nahda have only a live wire at the switch box, and this panel works on that. A neutral is only pulled in if you want the 2/3-way multi-control mode. Our own electricians isolate the circuit at the DB and do the wiring. Please do not open a live switch box yourself.
MOES in the UAE. A value brand in the Tuya and Zigbee ecosystem, sold in the UAE mainly through its own Amazon.ae store with genuine local stock and review history. Best known among smart-home enthusiasts for retrofit modules, no-neutral switches and scene controllers rather than as a household name. Most devices run on the Smart Life or Tuya app, and the Zigbee ones need a MOES or Tuya gateway. Note that MOES rarely states the wall-box pattern on its switch listings, so we confirm back-box fit before fitting one.
