The S20 is the budget alternative to the Tapo plugs and it does the basic job: remote switching, scheduling and voice through Alexa or Google, on a UK Type-G body that fits UAE sockets. Where it sits behind TP-Link is in the platform rather than the hardware. eWeLink works, but the budget Tuya and eWeLink tier has a patchier record on long-term app and cloud support, and TP-Link's regional distribution and warranty here are stronger. That makes the S20 a reasonable pick for something non-critical, a lamp in a guest room or a fan on a timer, and a poor pick for anything you would be annoyed to lose in an app update. It has no energy monitoring. Order the UK variant explicitly, since the same model is sold in EU and US pin formats on overseas sites and only the Type-G version fits a UAE socket. At this price the honest framing is that you are saving a small amount over a Tapo plug in exchange for a less dependable platform.

What to check before you order

Sold in the UAE in the UK Type-G variant, which is the one to order: the EU and US versions of the same product circulate on international sites and neither fits a UAE socket. eWeLink is the budget platform, so keep this off anything that would be a problem if the app or cloud service changed, and put the Tapo plugs on the loads that matter. The saving over a P100 is small enough that we usually recommend the P100 anyway unless the quantity is large.

Is the S20 worth choosing over a Tapo P100?

Rarely, at a difference of a few dirhams. TP-Link has stronger regional distribution, local warranty and a better record on long-term app support. The S20 makes sense when buying in quantity for non-critical loads, or when you already run other eWeLink devices and want everything in one app.

Which plug variant should I order?

The UK Type-G version. UAE sockets are BS 1363 three pin, and the EU and US variants of this same model sold on overseas sites will not fit. Check the listing image for three rectangular pins before ordering.

Does it measure power consumption?

No. It switches and schedules only. For consumption data on an appliance, the Tapo P110 or the Eve Energy plug are the models with metering built in.
