Overview

What it is and where it fits

Pay the small difference over the P100 for this one if you have ever argued about which appliance is driving the DEWA bill. It does everything the P100 does, scheduling, remote control, away mode and voice, and adds real-time and historical power measurement per device. That measurement is the reason to buy it: put it on the tumble dryer, the water heater and the second fridge for a month and you stop guessing. In Dubai the usual finding is the electric water heater running all day in a flat nobody is in until evening, and the schedule that follows pays for the plug several times over in a summer. It is a Type-G plug that fits UAE sockets directly and needs no hub, joining your Wi-Fi and working from the Tapo app. It measures only what is plugged into it, so it is a per-appliance tool rather than a whole-home one. For circuit-level or whole-property consumption you need a clamp-based monitor at the distribution board, which is a different job.

  • Shows what each appliance draws in real time and over months
  • Same scheduling and remote control as the P100
  • Type-G plug, no adapter needed in the UAE
  • Finds the appliance behind an unexplained summer bill

What to check before you order

DEWA smart meters show whole-property consumption but nothing per appliance, so a metering plug is how you find the specific device responsible for a bill. The usual Dubai culprit is the electric water heater, followed by an old second fridge in a villa store room. Type-G fits local sockets directly with genuine regional warranty. For per-circuit or whole-home data, a clamp meter at the distribution board is the right tool: this plug only reports on whatever is plugged into it, and hardwired loads such as AC and lighting circuits are outside its reach.

TP-Link in the UAE. Regional distributor stock with genuine UAE warranty. Tapo and Kasa lines are sold in UK Type-G plug variants matched to UAE sockets.

Questions about the Tapo P110 Smart Plug with Energy Monitoring

Does it show my DEWA cost?
Chevron down icon
It shows kilowatt hours consumed by the appliance plugged into it, which you can multiply by your DEWA tariff to get a cost. It does not connect to DEWA or read your meter. For whole-property figures DEWA's own app and smart meter are the source.

Can it measure my air conditioning?

Only for a plug-in portable unit. Split and ducted AC systems in Dubai are hardwired, so nothing plugs into this. Measuring those needs a clamp-based monitor installed at the distribution board.

What should I put it on first?

The electric water heater, if it is on a plug. In most Dubai apartments it heats continuously whether anyone is home or not, and putting it on a schedule around actual shower times is the single change that shows up fastest on the bill.
