The sensible default for a Dubai villa. 11kW over three phases at 16A, Type 2 connector, IP65 rated, with a 5 metre cable, Wi-Fi control and RFID access. The reason to look at three-phase first is the supply: most villas in Dubai are fed at three phase 400V, and a single-phase 7kW charger on such a property leaves most of the available capacity unused for no saving. The supply decides the charger, not the car. At 11kW a typical EV gains something in the region of 60 to 70 kilometres of range per hour of charging, which turns an overnight plug-in into a full battery for almost any daily use. Type 2 is the UAE standard connector, so this fits essentially every EV sold here including Tesla. IP65 covers a covered parking space or an exposed one. RFID access matters in shared or compound parking, where the charger needs to be usable by you and nobody else. Installation is hardwired to a dedicated circuit and requires a DEWA-certified electrician.

Most Dubai villas are supplied at three phase 400V, which is why 11kW or 22kW is normally the right specification here rather than the single-phase 7kW that dominates in Europe. Confirm the supply at the distribution board before choosing, because the supply decides the charger. The cable run is often the larger part of the cost: the charger needs its own circuit from the board to the parking area, and in a villa where the board sits at the back of the house and the parking is at the front, that run and its containment can cost more than the unit. Load balancing is worth discussing on a villa with heavy AC draw, because a car charging at full rate at the same time as several split units can push the main breaker over. EV installation in Dubai must be carried out by a DEWA-certified electrician, and we handle the survey, the circuit and the certification.
