Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Google Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired) is a plug-in camera for keeping an eye on the inside of your home. This is the 2025 third-generation model, with a 2K HDR sensor and a wide 152 degree view, so it shows more of a room and more detail than the older 1080p Nest Cam that some UAE shops still sell. It watches for people, vehicles, and animals on the device itself and sends a push alert to your phone, with color night vision up to about 4.5 metres in the dark. Everything runs through the Google Home app on a free Google Account. Note that it does not work with the old Nest app, which matters if you are moving over from older Nest gear. The free tier keeps around six hours of short event clips. A paid Google Home Premium plan adds 24/7 recording, up to 10 days of history, familiar-face alerts, and Gemini answers to plain questions about your footage. For Dubai homes, it suits an apartment or a villa room where there is a power socket close by. Power is a fixed USB-C cable with a 7.5W adapter, so there is no battery. It has to sit near an outlet, and it is for indoor use only, not a balcony or garden. If you want Apple Home or a battery you can move around, this is not the camera for you.

  • Sharp 2K HDR video with a wide 152 degree view of the room.
  • On-device alerts for people, vehicles, and animals, straight to your phone.
  • Color night vision up to about 4.5 metres in a dark room.
  • Free short event clips, or add Google Home Premium for 24/7 recording.

What to check before you order

This is an indoor camera, so keep it inside where your AC handles the heat. It is not made for a balcony, garden, or a hot enclosed porch in a Dubai summer, and strong sun through a window can wash out the picture, so angle it away from the glass. Power is the thing to plan for. The camera uses a fixed USB-C cable with a 7.5W adapter, and the included plug may not match a UAE Type-G socket, so keep a plug adapter handy or ask us to sort it. There is no battery, so it must stay near an outlet, and a short DEWA power cut will drop the feed until power returns. In a villa, check that your Wi-Fi actually reaches the room, since thick walls and long distances can weaken the signal far from the router. Buy through us and we handle setup, mounting, and the local one-year warranty, so you are not chasing support overseas.

Questions about the Google Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired)

What is the Google Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired)?
Chevron down icon
It is a wired indoor security camera from Google, the third-generation 2025 model. It shoots 2K HDR video with a wide 152 degree view, spots people, vehicles, and animals, and sends alerts to your phone. You plug it in, set it up in the Google Home app, and watch the live feed from anywhere.

Is it right for a Dubai apartment?
Chevron down icon
Yes, it fits apartments well. One camera covers a living room, hallway, or a nursery, and the wide view means you do not miss corners. You just need a power socket within reach of the 10 ft cable and decent Wi-Fi, which most Dubai flats already have.

Is it good for a villa?
Chevron down icon
It works in a villa, but plan for coverage. One indoor camera watches one room or area, so a larger villa may need a few units. Also check your Wi-Fi reaches the spot, because signal drops across thick walls and long hallways far from the router.

Does it need Wi-Fi?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It connects over 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi and needs a steady internet connection to stream, send alerts, and store clips in the cloud. There is no memory card slot. If the room has weak Wi-Fi, a mesh point or extender nearby will keep the feed smooth.

Do I need a separate hub or bridge?
Chevron down icon
No. The camera talks to your router over Wi-Fi and to the Google Home app directly, so there is nothing extra to buy. A Nest Hub or Google speaker is optional and only adds handy extras, like showing the live feed on a screen or checking in by voice.

Do I have to pay a subscription?
Chevron down icon
No, it works without paying. Out of the box you get alerts and roughly six hours of short event clips for free. A subscription is optional and only needed if you want 24/7 recording, longer history, or the smarter face and search features.

What does the free plan give me?
Chevron down icon
The free tier stores about six hours of 10-second event clips, so you can look back at recent motion. You still get live view any time and push alerts for people, vehicles, and animals. Older clips drop off once you pass the six-hour window.

What does Google Home Premium add?
Chevron down icon
It adds 24/7 continuous recording, up to 10 days of video history, familiar-face alerts, and Gemini answers to plain questions about your footage, like what happened in a room. It is a monthly plan that covers your cameras, so it is worth it if you want a full record.

Which app do I use?
Chevron down icon
You use the Google Home app on Android or iPhone, signed in with a free Google Account. Setup, live view, alerts, and settings all live there. Ask us if you would like help creating the account and getting the first camera online.

Does it work with the old Nest app?
Chevron down icon
No, and this is important. This third-gen camera runs only in the Google Home app, not the older Nest app. If you already have old Nest cameras tied to the Nest app, you will manage this new one separately in Google Home.

Does it work with Amazon Alexa?
Chevron down icon
Not really. Nest Cam is built around Google, so it does not link cleanly to Alexa for live view on an Echo Show. If your home runs on Alexa, a camera brand like Ring or Tapo will fit better. We can point you to one that matches your setup.

Does it work with Apple Home or HomeKit?
Chevron down icon
No. The Nest Cam does not work with Apple Home or HomeKit, so you cannot view it in the Apple Home app or on an Apple TV. If HomeKit support is a must for you, tell us and we will suggest a camera that supports it instead.

Does it work with Google speakers and displays?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It pairs neatly with Google Home. You can pull up the live feed on a Nest Hub, a Google TV Streamer, or a docked Pixel Tablet, and use voice to show a room. This is where the camera feels most at home.

How does it cope with UAE heat?
Chevron down icon
Kept indoors with the AC running, heat is not an issue. Trouble starts if you point it out a sunny window or place it in a hot, unconditioned room. Strong Dubai sun can wash out the image and warm the unit, so keep it in cooled indoor space and away from direct glare.

Will dust be a problem?
Chevron down icon
Indoors, dust mostly settles on the lens over time. A quick wipe with a soft dry cloth keeps the picture clear. Because it is not sealed for outdoor use, do not put it on a dusty balcony or near an open window during a sandstorm, where fine dust gets everywhere.

How is it powered, and does it fit a Type-G plug?
Chevron down icon
It runs on mains power through a fixed 10 ft USB-C cable and a small 7.5W adapter. The included plug may not match a UAE Type-G socket, so you might need a plug adapter. Ask us and we will make sure it plugs into your wall on day one.

Does it have a battery?
Chevron down icon
No, it has no battery. It is wired only and must stay plugged in near a socket. That means no charging and no moving it around freely, but it also means it never runs flat. If you want a camera you can place anywhere without wiring, look at a battery model.

What happens during a DEWA power cut?
Chevron down icon
During a power cut the camera goes off, since it has no battery backup. When DEWA power returns, it reconnects to Wi-Fi and comes back on its own within a minute or two. For gap-free coverage during outages, a small UPS on the socket and router helps.

How good is the night vision?
Chevron down icon
It has color night vision that reaches up to about 4.5 metres, or roughly 15 feet, using built-in IR. In a normal room with a little ambient light you get a usable color picture. In full darkness beyond that range, detail fades, so place it where it can see the area you care about.

Can it record 24/7?
Chevron down icon
Only with a paid plan. The free tier saves short event clips, not a full day. Google Home Premium unlocks 24/7 continuous recording with up to 10 days of history, so you can scrub back to any moment. Without the plan, you get live view and recent event clips only.

Where is my footage stored, and is it private?
Chevron down icon
Footage is stored in Google's cloud, not on a card, and streams over your Wi-Fi. Your Google Account and app control who can see it. There is no local SD option, so if you prefer on-device storage, a camera with a card slot may suit you better.

Who installs and sets it up?
Chevron down icon
Setup is simple. Plug it in, open Google Home, scan the code, and place it on a shelf or the magnetic mount. Most people do it in minutes. If you would rather not, our team can install, mount, aim, and set up alerts for you across the home.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
It comes with a one-year manufacturer or regional retailer warranty. Buying through us means your warranty and support are handled locally in the UAE, so if anything goes wrong you deal with us here rather than a call centre abroad.

How does it compare to the older 1080p Nest Cam?
Chevron down icon
The older 2nd-gen Nest Cam records at 1080p, while this 3rd-gen model steps up to 2K HDR with a wider 152 degree view and clearer zoom. Some UAE shops still list the older one at a similar price, so check the exact model before buying to get this newer version.

How does it compare to a battery camera like Ring?
Chevron down icon
A Ring battery camera can go where there is no socket and works in the Alexa world, but you recharge it now and then. This Nest Cam stays plugged in, never needs charging, and gives sharper 2K video, but only indoors and only in Google's system. Pick based on power and ecosystem.

Who should not buy this camera?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if your home runs on Apple Home or Alexa, if you need an outdoor or battery camera, or if you want local SD storage with no cloud. It is also not ideal if the spot has no nearby socket, since there is no battery to fall back on.

How do I buy it from you, and what does it cost?

In Dubai it usually sells for around AED 398, based on the current Amazon.ae listing, with market prices near the AED 379 to 409 range. Contact us for today's price plus supply, setup, and local warranty as one package. We will confirm stock and book installation.
