Overview

What it is and where it fits

The Ring Spotlight Cam Plus (Battery) is a wireless outdoor camera that watches your entrances, driveway or garden and sends alerts to your phone. It records 1080p HD video across a wide 140 degree view, and its Color Night Vision keeps footage useful after dark. Two LED spotlights switch on when motion is detected, and a 105dB siren can be triggered from the Ring app if someone should not be there. Two-way talk lets you speak to a delivery driver or warn off a stranger from wherever you are. Power comes from a removable, rechargeable battery pack that you charge over Micro-USB. The unit holds up to two packs, so one can charge while the other runs. Setup takes about 5 to 10 minutes with the included bracket and screws, and no wiring is needed, which is why it suits renters as much as owners. It runs on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only, so a villa with weak signal at the far walls may need a mesh point or extender near the camera. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant, but not Apple Home. Be honest about the limits. Live view is free, but saved recordings and playback need a paid Ring subscription (a 30-day trial is included). Some UAE buyers have also reported difficulty getting warranty help locally, so keep your invoice. For a Dubai home that wants motion lighting, a loud siren and quick DIY setup, it is a sensible pick.

What to check before you order

Dubai summers are hard on outdoor electronics. This camera is rated to 48°C, which covers most shaded spots but not a wall in full afternoon sun, so mount it under an eave or in a porch where you can. Fine desert dust settles on the lens, so plan to wipe it every couple of weeks or footage turns hazy. Because it runs on battery, there is no wiring and no DEWA connection needed, though heavy motion traffic in summer drains the pack faster, so a Ring Solar Panel or the plug-in adaptor (both sold separately) is worth it for busy gates. If you use the adaptor, remember UAE sockets are 220 to 240V Type-G, so buy the version with the right plug. In a large villa the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi may not reach the outer walls, so test signal first or add a mesh node. One caution: some UAE owners report slow local warranty support, so buy from a seller who will stand behind it and keep your receipt.

Ring in the UAE. Sold directly through Amazon.ae. Ring has no local support office in the UAE, so treat it as self-supported: excellent hardware, but a fault is a shipping question rather than a service call.

Questions about the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus (Battery)

What exactly is the Ring Spotlight Cam Plus (Battery)?
Chevron down icon
It is a wireless outdoor security camera that runs on a rechargeable battery. It films 1080p video, lights up two spotlights when it sees motion, and can sound a 105dB siren from your phone. You watch the live view and get alerts through the free Ring app.

Is it right for my Dubai villa?
Chevron down icon
Yes, for most villas. It covers a gate, driveway or garden entrance well with its 140 degree view. Since it is battery powered, you can place it where there is no wiring. For several entry points, plan on one camera each, and check Wi-Fi reaches the far walls.

Can I use it in an apartment or on a balcony?
Chevron down icon
You can, but check your building rules first, as many Dubai towers restrict cameras that face shared corridors or neighbours. On a private balcony it works fine. Point it at your own space only, and keep it under cover away from direct sun and rain.

Do I need Wi-Fi for it to work?
Chevron down icon
Yes. It needs a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection and will not join a 5GHz-only network. It does not use a SIM or mobile data. If your router hides both bands under one name, you may need to split them or use a mesh system that handles the 2.4GHz band.

Does it need a hub or base station?
Chevron down icon
No. It connects straight to your home Wi-Fi and the Ring app, so there is no separate hub to buy. A Ring Chime (sold separately) is optional and only adds a chime sound inside the house when the camera detects motion or someone talks through it.

Do I need a paid subscription?
Chevron down icon
Live view, alerts, two-way talk and the siren are free. To save clips and watch back what you missed, you need a Ring Home plan, which costs a small amount per camera each month. A 30-day trial comes with the camera so you can test recording before you pay.

Which app runs it?
Chevron down icon
The free Ring app, on iPhone and Android. You set up the camera, watch live, adjust motion zones, talk through it and turn on the siren all from there. One account can hold several Ring devices, and you can share access with family members.

Does it work with Amazon Alexa?
Chevron down icon
Yes. Link it in the Alexa app and you can pull up the live view on an Echo Show screen or a Fire TV by voice. You can also ask Alexa to turn on the spotlights. Saved recordings still depend on your Ring subscription, not Alexa.

Does it work with Google Assistant?
Chevron down icon
Yes. After linking, you can ask a Google Nest Hub or a Chromecast-connected TV to show the camera feed. Voice control covers the live view and the spotlights. As with Alexa, saved footage still relies on your Ring plan, not the Google side.

Does it work with Apple Home or HomeKit?
Chevron down icon
No. Ring does not support Apple HomeKit, so you cannot add this camera to the Apple Home app or view it on an Apple TV. If an all-Apple setup matters to you, look at a HomeKit Secure Video camera instead. Everything here runs through the Ring app.

How does it handle Dubai heat?
Chevron down icon
It is rated to work up to 48°C. That is fine in shade or under an eave, but a wall in direct summer sun can get hotter than that, which may cause it to slow or shut off to protect itself. Mount it somewhere shaded for steady performance.

Will dust affect it?
Chevron down icon
Fine desert dust builds up on any outdoor lens here. It will not damage the camera, but a dusty lens makes video look soft or hazy, especially at night when the spotlights reflect off the film. A quick wipe with a soft cloth every couple of weeks keeps it clear.

How is it powered?
Chevron down icon
By a removable rechargeable battery pack, one included. You slide it out, charge it over the Micro-USB cable, and slide it back. The camera holds up to two packs at once for longer runtime. There is no wiring, so nothing needs a DEWA connection or an electrician.

Can I run it on mains or solar instead?
Chevron down icon
Yes. You can keep it topped up with the Ring plug-in adaptor or a Ring Solar Panel, both sold separately. Solar suits sunny Dubai gates and gardens well. The camera can switch between battery and the added power source, so it keeps running while charging.

What plug and voltage does the UAE need?
Chevron down icon
The camera charges by USB, so the battery is not fussy. If you add the plug-in adaptor, remember UAE mains is 220 to 240V on Type-G three-pin sockets, the same as your wall plugs, so make sure the adaptor you buy has a UK-style plug.

How long does the battery last and what does it cost to run?
Chevron down icon
Runtime depends on how much motion it sees. A quiet side wall can go weeks between charges, while a busy front gate in summer may need a top-up every week or two. Charging costs next to nothing on your DEWA bill. Solar removes the recharging chore for good.

How loud is the siren and will it disturb neighbours?
Chevron down icon
The built-in siren is 105 decibels, which is very loud and meant to startle an intruder and draw attention. You trigger it yourself from the app, it does not blare on its own, so accidental noise is unlikely. Use it only for real concerns to keep the peace with neighbours.

How do I install it, and can you set it up?
Chevron down icon
Most people fit it themselves in 5 to 10 minutes using the bracket and screws in the box, then follow the app to connect. No wiring is involved. If you would rather not climb a ladder or handle the app, our team can mount it and set up your zones and alerts.

Does it record all the time, 24/7?
Chevron down icon
No. This battery model records in clips when it detects motion, not continuously, which is normal for battery cameras and helps the pack last. If you need round-the-clock recording, you would want a wired camera with a plugged-in power source and the right subscription.

How good is the night video?
Chevron down icon
Good for a home camera. Color Night Vision gives you colour instead of grey when there is some ambient light, and the two spotlights light up faces and number plates close by when motion triggers them. Very dark far corners will still look softer, as with any camera this size.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?
Chevron down icon
It comes with a one-year limited warranty that includes theft protection. Be aware some UAE buyers have reported trouble getting Ring's local warranty or update help on faulty units. Keep your invoice, buy from a seller who supports returns, and contact us if you hit a problem.

How does it compare to the plain Ring Outdoor Camera (battery)?
Chevron down icon
The standard Ring Outdoor Camera (Stick Up Cam) is cheaper but has no spotlights and no built-in siren. This Plus model adds both, so it deters as well as records. If you want active lighting and a loud alarm at a gate, the Plus is the better buy.

How does it compare to a eufy SoloCam?
Chevron down icon
A eufy SoloCam stores clips locally with no monthly fee, which some Dubai buyers prefer. Ring charges a subscription for saved footage but has a wider accessory range and stronger Alexa links. Choose eufy to avoid fees, or Ring if you already use Alexa and want the siren and spotlights.

Is 699 AED good value, and how do I buy from you?
Chevron down icon
At AED 699 it sits in the mid range for a spotlight camera with a siren, which is fair for the deterrent features. We can supply it, mount it and set up your alerts as one job. Ask us for the current price, colour choice (Black or White) and lead time.

Who should not buy this camera?
Chevron down icon
Skip it if you want 24/7 recording, free cloud storage, or an Apple Home camera, as this does none of those. It is also not ideal for a spot in full, unshaded summer sun. For those needs, a wired camera or a HomeKit or local-storage model fits better.
