It is AED 230 on Amazon.ae, in stock and delivered by Amazon, with other Amazon.ae sellers at around AED 232 to 240. For AC control you also need an Aqara Hub M3, so budget for that if you do not already have one.

Can the W100 control my AC on its own?

Accepted Answer

No. On its own it only measures and displays temperature and humidity. To control a split AC it needs an Aqara Hub M3, which sends the infrared commands. To run scenes and automations it needs an Aqara hub or a Matter over Thread setup such as Apple Home.

Can the W100 work as a thermostat for a fan coil unit?

Accepted Answer

No. A chilled-water fan coil needs a wired thermostat that switches the fan speeds and valve at 230V, and the W100 has no wiring or relays. The only thermostat Aqara lists it pairing with is the Radiator Thermostat E1. Keep a proper fan coil thermostat for that job.

Does it work with district cooling from Empower, Emicool or Tabreed?

Not directly. District cooling feeds fan coils that are controlled by a wired thermostat. The W100 can sit beside it as an accurate room display and scene button, and a smart fan coil thermostat can use its readings in automations, but the W100 cannot switch the cooling by itself.

How does AC control with the Aqara Hub M3 work?

You pair the W100 to the Hub M3 in Zigbee mode, then bind it to an air conditioner you have added to the M3 as an infrared remote. The W100 screen then shows the AC's mode, fan speed and target temperature, and its buttons change them. The M3 sends the signal, so it needs a clear line to the AC.

Do I need a Hub M3 in every room?

For AC control, usually yes. Infrared does not pass through walls, so a Hub M3 has to be in the same room as the air conditioner it controls. A villa with splits in five bedrooms would need a hub in each room where you want wall control, which adds up quickly.

For sensor readings, scenes and button automations, yes, it works with Aqara Zigbee hubs. For showing and adjusting an infrared air conditioner on its screen, Aqara lists only the Hub M3. If wall control of a split AC is your goal, plan for an M3.

Yes. In Matter over Thread mode it adds to Apple Home as temperature and humidity sensors plus buttons, with single, double and long presses supported. You need a Thread border router such as a HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K. The AC display and control features are not available in this mode.

It joins Google Home and Alexa through Matter, but support is thinner than in Apple Home. Reviewers found Google uses it mainly for temperature and humidity triggers, and Alexa supports only one button for routines. For full button use, choose Apple Home, Home Assistant or the Aqara app.

Choose Zigbee if you use Aqara hubs and want AC control on the screen, a linked second sensor and the full feature set. Choose Thread if you want it directly in Apple Home or another Matter system without an Aqara hub. It runs in one mode at a time, and Thread mode gives up the AC features.

It runs on two CR2450 coin cells, which Aqara rates at up to 2.4 years on Zigbee and 2.3 years on Thread. It is rated for minus 20 to 60°C, so indoor Dubai conditions are fine. Keep it out of direct sun, which ages batteries faster and pushes readings up.

The W100 runs on batteries, so a DEWA power cut does not turn it off, and it keeps showing temperature and humidity. Your hub and AC stay off until power returns. Aqara hub automations can run locally, so an internet outage mainly pauses remote app access rather than the room controls.

The lower part of the screen shows a second temperature and humidity reading. With an Aqara Zigbee hub you can link another Aqara temperature sensor, for example in a child's room or the majlis. Without one, it shows local weather temperature and humidity instead.

It has no camera or microphone, only temperature and humidity sensors and buttons. In Zigbee mode it talks to your Aqara hub, and in Thread mode it joins your Matter system directly. Remote access goes through your hub or platform account, so protect that account with a strong password.
