The C3 is the Aqara track motor to specify when the E1 is not enough, and the honest test is whether the E1 has anything left at the end of the run. It clips onto a curtain track in the same way, so no rail replacement is needed, but it is built for more curtain and it runs quieter under load, which matters in a bedroom where the E1 audibly works. It carries the same rechargeable battery arrangement, the same manual pull to start, and the same automations, so a temperature or sunlight trigger closes the curtain when the afternoon sun reaches west-facing glass. It also brings the curtain into Apple Home, Alexa and Google through a hub, alongside the rest of the Aqara system. Where it stops being the right answer is the very wide villa opening. Past about four metres of heavy lined blackout fabric, a pair of motors on a centre split or a rail-mounted track built for the load will outlast any clip-on motor, and paying more for a clip-on does not change that. Identify the track profile before ordering: a boxed U-rail is fine, a plain pole is not, and a corded track needs the cord mechanism removed first.
