A complete new track and motor, cut to your window, when the existing rail cannot take a motor.
This is the kit to specify when the existing curtain rail is a rod, is corded, or is too light to carry a motor. The track is supplied cut to the window width with the motor already matched to it, which removes the guesswork of pairing a motor to an unknown rail. It runs on the same Zigbee platform as the rest of the Aqara range, so it reaches Apple Home, Alexa and Google through an Aqara hub and takes the same temperature and sunlight automations. Because the track is new, the motor runs on a rail with the right profile and tolerance from the start, which is why these installations are quieter and more reliable over time than a motor clamped to an old rail. It is the usual choice during a renovation or fit-out, when the pelmet is open anyway and running power to the track costs almost nothing.

Specify this rather than a clip-on motor when the window is wider than about four metres, when the curtains are heavy lined blackout fabric, or when the existing rail is corded or a rod. It needs mains power at the track, which is straightforward during a fit-out and more involved in a finished home with a closed gypsum pelmet. We measure on site rather than working from a stated window width, because pelmet returns and wall irregularity change the usable track length.
