Will Sivoia QS work on UAE 220-240V mains?

Yes, as long as the right power supply is specified. The shade motor never touches mains, it runs on low-voltage DC. Lutron's current CSPS transformer and QSPSY-10PNL panel take 100-240V at 50/60Hz, so they suit DEWA supply. Triathlon needs no mains connection at all.

Is there a wrong part I should watch for on the quotation?

Yes. The legacy US panel QSPSY-P1-10-60 is 120V input only, so it has no place on a UAE job. Ask the dealer to print the power supply part number on your quote and confirm it is the 100-240V CSPS or the QSPSY-10PNL panel.

What is the difference between Sivoia QS and Sivoia QS Triathlon?

Sivoia QS is hardwired. Its Class 2 DC motor takes 24V (35V on the Roller 100 tube) from a Lutron power supply or panel. Triathlon is battery powered, 4 or 8 D-cells per shade, with no mains connection. Triathlon suits finished rooms where you cannot run cable.

Do I need a Lutron hub or processor?

Yes, always. These shades have no Wi-Fi and no app of their own. They must be commissioned onto an RA2 Select Main Repeater, a RadioRA 3 processor, or a HomeWorks QS or QSX processor. Without one you get no app, no schedules and no voice control.

Will they work with my existing Caseta hub?

No. Caseta is a different platform. The Lutron shade line that pairs with Caseta is Serena, not Sivoia QS. If Caseta is all you have, you either move up to RA2 Select or RadioRA 3, or pick a different shade. We will tell you which is cheaper for your home.

Which app controls the shades?

The Lutron app that matches your system, so RA2 Select, RadioRA 3 or HomeWorks. Your dealer commissions each shade into that system first, then names rooms and scenes. In daily use, most clients reach for a Pico remote or a wall keypad more often than the phone.

Do they work with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Home?

Alexa and Google voice control run through the Lutron system, not through the shade itself. Apple Home support depends on which Lutron processor you install, so we confirm that in writing before anything is ordered. Tell us at survey if voice is the main reason you are buying.

Can I retrofit these into a villa I already live in?

Yes. Triathlon is built for exactly that. It runs on D-cell batteries, so there is no chasing, no conduit and no rewiring. Hardwired Sivoia QS suits a new fit-out or a renovation, where low-voltage cable can still be pulled to each headrail before ceilings close.

Do I need an electrician, or just a blind fitter?

Both trades, in practice. The shade and its low-voltage wiring are handled by the Lutron certified dealer. Any new socket, fused spur or panel feed is a licensed electrician's job in Dubai. We coordinate the two so power is live and tested before the fabrication lands on site.

Can I install it myself to save money?

Accepted Answer

No, and it is not sold that way. Sivoia QS is measured on site, fabricated to order, then installed and RF commissioned by a certified dealer. A wrong measurement is not returnable, because the shade only fits your window. Warranty and service also run through that dealer.

Will the Lutron keypads fit our wall boxes?

Accepted Answer

Lutron keypads and wall controls sit in a standard wall box, and Dubai buildings use both UK pattern and EU round boxes. Tell us which you have at survey. If the box is the wrong pattern or too shallow, the electrician swaps it before the dealer fits the faceplate.

How long do Triathlon batteries last?

Lutron rates a set of D-cells at 3 to 5 years, depending on shade size and how often it moves. For a stairwell or a double-height majlis, ask about the optional hardwired 12V supply so nobody has to get a ladder out for a battery change.

Plan in weeks, not days. There is a site survey and measure, factory fabrication to your sizes and fabric, shipping, then install and commissioning. Shade format and fabric choice both move the date. We put a dated lead time on the quotation once the survey is done.

Because there is no fixed product to price. Cost depends on window sizes, shade format, fabric, fascia, how many shades share a power supply, and which Lutron system they join. We specify and quote per project rather than publish a number that turns out wrong for your villa.

How does this compare with the Aqara or Dooya motors you sell?

Accepted Answer

Aqara and Dooya kits motorise a track for a few hundred dirhams per window, and you can be living with them the same week. Sivoia QS is a specified system: made-to-measure fabric shades, matched hardware, and a Lutron processor behind it. Different budget, different finish, different install.

Is it worth the extra over a Dooya DT82 track kit?

Only in the right project. If Lutron lighting is already going in, and you want fabric shades aligned across a long glass wall with one keypad running lights and blinds together, yes. If you want one bedroom curtain on a timer, no. Buy the cheaper motor and spend the difference elsewhere.

Do they use Zigbee, Z-Wave or Matter?

None of those. Wireless shades use Lutron Clear Connect RF, which is proprietary and encrypted. Hardwired shades use Lutron's QS low-voltage digital bus. It is a closed system on purpose, which is part of why it is dependable, and also why it needs Lutron gear around it.

Do the shades need Wi-Fi?

The shades do not use Wi-Fi. Your Lutron processor or main repeater connects to the router so phones and voice assistants can reach it. The link from processor to shade is local RF or a wired bus, which is why a weak Wi-Fi corner does not stall a shade.

Will they still work if the internet drops?

Yes, locally. Keypads and Pico remotes talk to the processor over Lutron's own RF, so pressing a button still moves the shade. What you lose without internet is remote access from outside the house and voice commands, since those pass through Alexa or Google servers.

What happens in a power cut?

Triathlon shades keep working on their batteries, although the processor they answer to is off unless it sits on a UPS. Hardwired Sivoia QS shades stop until power returns, then carry on from their stored positions. A DEWA outage does not damage the motors.

This is an interior shading line. The motor sits inside the tube in a cooled room, so summer heat is not the problem. Fabric on a west-facing glass wall takes real punishment, so we talk through openness factor and fade behaviour at fabric selection. External screens are a separate product.

Can I get proper blackout in the bedrooms?

Yes, if the lighting is Lutron as well. That is the main reason clients choose this line. A single keypad by the majlis door can set light levels and shade positions in one scene. Mixing brands leaves you with two apps and two keypads, which most owners want to avoid.
