It is a wall switch with three touch keys, open, stop and close, that drives a motorised curtain, roller blind or shutter. It connects to your home WiFi and to the Smart Life app, so the same motor can be run from the wall, from a phone or by voice. Around AED 120.

Will it fit the back box in my Dubai apartment?

Probably, but we confirm before fitting. It is the flat 86mm glass format MOES uses across its UK and EU touch switches, built for a standard single gang box. MOES does not publish an exact cutout spec for this model, so we check the box on site and use an adapter plate if needed.

Does it need a neutral wire?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Both the Amazon spec sheet and the MOES spec table for the identical panel list the wiring as live and neutral. There is no no-neutral version of this model. If your switch box only has live and switched live, the panel will not power up and you should not order it.

Question 4

My older apartment has no neutral at the switch. What are my options?

Accepted Answer

You either run a neutral to that box, which is often possible during a refurbishment, or you pick a device that does not need one. For curtains that usually means a battery clip-on motor such as an Aqara or SwitchBot unit, which needs no mains switch at all. We can price both routes.

Do I need a Tuya or MOES Zigbee gateway?

No. This model is standalone WiFi on 2.4GHz. It joins your router directly and reaches the Tuya cloud on its own. MOES also sells Zigbee curtain switches that do need the hub, so check the model before buying. Amazon's own comparison table on this listing shows no hub for the WiFi version.

Which app controls it?

Smart Life, which is the Tuya app, on iOS and Android. You pair the panel to 2.4GHz WiFi during setup and it appears as a curtain device. The same app runs a lot of other budget kit, so if you already have Tuya devices at home this panel drops into the same account.

Question 7

Does it work with Alexa and Google Home?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Link your Smart Life account inside the Alexa or Google Home app and the panel shows up as a curtain you can open and close by voice. Voice commands travel through the cloud, so they need working internet. The wall keys keep working whether or not the voice service is up.

Question 8

Does it work with Apple Home?

Accepted Answer

Not natively. There is no HomeKit and no Matter on this model, so it will not appear in the Apple Home app. iPhone owners can still run it from Smart Life and from Siri Shortcuts. If Apple Home is important to you, an Aqara curtain motor with a hub is the better buy.

Does the curtain motor come in the box?

No. The listing states plainly that the package holds the switch only. You need a curtain track motor, roller blind motor or shutter motor already fitted, or going in at the same time. Budget for that separately. This panel is the control end, not the moving part.

What kind of motor does it work with?

Accepted Answer

A mains powered tubular or track motor wired the normal way, with live, neutral and two direction wires. That covers most roller shutters, roller blinds and motorised curtain tracks sold here. It does not drive battery clip-on motors, and it will not talk to a Somfy RTS radio motor.

Is the RF433 remote included?

Accepted Answer

No, it is a separate accessory. The remote pairs straight to the panel over 433MHz, not through the app or any hub, so it keeps working with no internet at all. It is a sensible addition for a majlis or a bedroom where an older family member will not use a phone.

Can I install it myself?

Accepted Answer

We would rather you did not. It sits on a live 220-240V circuit and the motor direction wires have to land correctly, or the open and close keys end up reversed. Our licensed electricians handle the isolation, the wiring and the app pairing on the same visit, which is the safer and faster route.

Will it run on UAE power?

Accepted Answer

Yes. It is rated AC 110-240V at 50/60Hz, so 220-240V at 50Hz is inside spec. The load side takes 2.5A and up to 600W, far more than any single curtain or blind motor draws. Standby consumption is 0.1mA, small enough to ignore on a DEWA bill.

Will it work in an older Dubai building?

Only if there is a neutral at the switch. Many older blocks in Deira, Karama and Bur Dubai were wired without one. The second older-building issue is a shallow or odd sized back box. Send us a photo with the existing switch plate off and we will tell you before anything is ordered.

What happens if the internet goes down?

Accepted Answer

The wall keys keep working, because they switch the motor directly. The RF433 remote keeps working too, since it talks to the panel over radio rather than the cloud. What you lose is app control from outside, voice commands and anything that depends on the Tuya cloud. It all returns when WiFi is back.

Do I have to set it up again if I change my router?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The panel has to be paired to the new WiFi name and password, the same as any WiFi device. Each panel is its own item on the network, so a villa with six of them means six re-pairings. That is one honest reason Zigbee scales better in a large house.

Question 17

Does it work on 5GHz WiFi?

Accepted Answer

No, it is 2.4GHz only, b/g/n. If your router broadcasts one combined name for both bands, you may need to split them or switch off 5GHz for a few minutes to finish pairing. This is normal for low-cost smart devices and is not a fault. We deal with it during installation.

How does it compare to Aqara, which you also sell?

Aqara costs more and gives you Zigbee, faster local response, Apple Home through a hub and a much better app. MOES gives you the basic job for a fraction of the money. Wiring a whole villa, Aqara is the sounder choice. For one blind in one room, this panel is honest value.

How does it compare to Sonoff, which you also sell?

Sonoff has stronger firmware and a bigger community behind it, and some models run locally over eWeLink LAN mode. MOES is usually cheaper and its glass panels look tidier on a wall. Both are value brands. Neither is a premium fit and finish product, so judge them on price and function.

Can it close the blinds automatically in the afternoon?

Yes. Set a schedule or a sunset trigger in the Smart Life app and it runs without you. In Dubai this pays off on west-facing glass, where closing the blind in the late afternoon takes real heat load off the AC. You can also fire it from an Alexa or Google routine.

What warranty and support do I get in the UAE?

Accepted Answer

Warranty on a MOES panel bought through a marketplace sits with the seller, and in practice it is a return window rather than a service centre visit. There is no MOES walk-in support in Dubai. Our workmanship warranty covers the installation. Keep the invoice and the box until the return window closes.

Can I control it while I am travelling?

Yes, as long as the panel is online. The Smart Life app works through the Tuya cloud, so you can open or close a blind from anywhere with a data connection. Some owners use this to make an empty apartment look lived in while the family is away for the summer.

Can I fit it in a bathroom or outside?

Accepted Answer

No. It is an indoor dry-location panel with no IP rating quoted. Keep it out of bathrooms, away from spray, and off exterior walls where sun and dust would get at it. For an outdoor shutter, put the panel inside the room and run the motor cable out.

Can one panel control two curtains?

Accepted Answer

One panel switches one motor circuit. You can wire two identical motors to the same output if the combined load stays under 2.5A and both should always move together, which is normal on a centre split curtain. If you want the two halves to move independently, you need two panels.

Does it show the curtain position as a percentage?

Accepted Answer

No. This is a straight open, stop and close controller with no position feedback, so you cannot tell it to sit at 40 percent. If partial positions and status reporting matter to you, choose a motor with a position-aware controller instead. Ask us and we will show you the options.

Is the 4.5 star rating on Amazon reliable?

Treat it as indicative only. At the time we checked it was 4.5 stars from just 7 ratings, which is a thin sample typical of a low-volume curtain switch listing. It is not enough data to prove long-term reliability. Our view of MOES is based on what we see on site, not on star counts.

Anyone in an apartment with no neutral at the switch. Anyone who wants Apple Home. Anyone fitting out a whole villa, where dozens of WiFi devices on one router becomes a headache and Zigbee is the better base. And anyone expecting premium build, because this is a budget panel priced like one.
