Bosch EL400VF smart lock: face recognition, a 720p night vision camera and hidden fingerprint sensor, rated to 70°C for sunny Dubai villa entrances.
The Bosch EL400VF is a face recognition smart lock with a night vision camera, a hidden fingerprint sensor and a 70°C rating, so it handles a hot, poorly lit Dubai villa entrance well. The cheaper FU6 Plus gives more on paper, so buy this one for its night vision and design. The fingerprint sensor sits flush in the outside panel, and a short pull handle opens the door. Your face opens it from 40 to 90 cm away, and the other options are fingerprint, PIN code, IC card, the Smart Life app and a key. The UAE distributor gives a face height range of 1.1 to 1.9 m, which covers shorter family members. Memory holds 20 faces, and 100 apiece of fingerprints, codes and cards. A 720p camera with a 120° view and night vision watches the doorstep. The remote two-way intercom puts visitors through to your phone, and people inside see them on a 3.97-inch screen. Temporary passwords suit guests and cleaners. One 4200mAh lithium battery powers it, backed by an emergency charging port, and it joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi with no hub. It uses a clutch built-in mechanical mortise, so the outside handle only engages once you are recognised. Since a European mortise is the norm in Dubai, we measure your door's pocket first, and its thickness must fall between 40 and 100 mm. Bosch does not list the EL400VF on its own smart lock website, so after-sales help comes only from the official UAE distributor. We found no Alexa or Google support.

Two things make the EL400VF work in Dubai: the 70°C rating and the night vision camera. Many villa entrances face west, sit under a weak porch light, or both, and this lock copes with the heat while still giving a usable picture after dark. The single 4200mAh battery is the weak point in summer, so recharge it well before it runs flat. Its clutch built-in mortise may not match the European mortise already in the door, so some re-cutting of the door edge is possible, and we confirm this from a photo or a visit. In towers the main door is normally fire-rated, and building management decides whether any lock change is allowed. Tenants need written landlord approval and should store the original lock. In a DEWA cut the lock carries on running on its battery, while the app and intercom wait for the router. Support and warranty come only from the UAE distributor.
Bosch in the UAE. Bosch-branded digital locks come from Bosch's smart-lock business in China, not from Bosch's appliance or power-tool divisions. In the UAE they are handled by an official distributor and sold through specialist retail and Amazon.ae, and warranty support runs through that distributor rather than a Bosch-run service centre. Heat ratings vary by model: the lever locks are rated to 55°C, so we recommend them for shaded or covered doors, while several of the face-recognition models are rated higher.
