Bosch FU8 smart lock: 3D face recognition, a 4.45-inch inside screen and video intercom to your phone, for shaded Dubai villa and apartment doors.
The Bosch FU8 is a push-pull face recognition smart lock for Dubai homes, with a 4.45-inch screen on the inside and video calls to your phone. It suits a shaded villa or apartment door. On a door in full sun, the FU6 Plus is the safer buy. You stand 40 to 90 cm from the outside panel and the 3D face sensor reads you, so your hands stay free. Fingerprint, PIN, IC card, the Smart Life app and a mechanical key are the other ways in. It holds 20 faces and 100 each of fingerprints, codes and cards. When a visitor calls from the door, you see and speak to them on your phone and can open up remotely, while anyone at home sees them on the indoor screen. It joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi directly, with no hub. A 5000mAh lithium battery runs it, and the distributor quotes three to six months per charge. An emergency charging port sits on the outside. The FU8 comes with its own mechanical mortise lock body. Most Dubai doors carry a European mortise, so we measure the pocket before you order. Doors must be 40 to 100 mm thick. The UAE spec sheet rates it to 60°C, which is comfortable in a tower corridor but tight on a west-facing villa door. The UAE sheet also lists a lower spec than Bosch's global FU8 Plus, and we quote the UAE figures. It comes from Bosch's smart lock business in China and has no confirmed Alexa or Google support.

Most FU8 buyers in Dubai put it on an apartment door off an air-conditioned corridor, or on a villa door under a porch, and that is where it belongs. The 60°C rating leaves little margin on a dark panel facing the afternoon sun from May to September, and heat shortens lithium battery life too. Tower entrance doors are usually fire-rated, so building management must approve any lock change. Tenants need written landlord consent because the panels bolt through new holes in the door, and the old lock should be kept for move-out. The lock pairs on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, so a router that merges both bands may need a separate 2.4 GHz network name. In a DEWA cut the door still opens on battery, and the app and intercom return with the internet. Dust on the camera window slows face reads, so wipe it often in summer. Support runs through the official UAE distributor.
Bosch in the UAE. Bosch-branded digital locks come from Bosch's smart-lock business in China, not from Bosch's appliance or power-tool divisions. In the UAE they are handled by an official distributor and sold through specialist retail and Amazon.ae, and warranty support runs through that distributor rather than a Bosch-run service centre. Heat ratings vary by model: the lever locks are rated to 55°C, so we recommend them for shaded or covered doors, while several of the face-recognition models are rated higher.
