The OLA Slim solves a fitting problem rather than a feature problem. Its plates are narrow enough to sit on a slim-stile aluminium or glazed door where a standard digital lock plate would overhang the frame or foul the glass, and that is the reason to choose it over a wider lock at similar money. Entry is by fingerprint, keypad PIN, app and mechanical key, with auto-lock and a per-user log behind it. Lockin is a brand we have not carried before, and it is worth being plain about what that means: the hardware is well made and the pricing is good, but the UAE support position is a distributor and an installer rather than a showroom with parts on a shelf. For a secondary door or an apartment entrance that is a reasonable trade. For a villa main door we would rather sell you a Yale. The narrow body also has a practical consequence: fewer batteries fit, so expect to change them more often than on a full-size lock, and the app warning is the thing to pay attention to rather than the number of months quoted.

Slim aluminium and glazed doors are everywhere in Dubai apartments and villa extensions, on balconies, garden rooms, majlis partitions and home offices, and they are the doors where a normal digital lock physically will not fit. That is the case for this one. Measure the stile width and the door thickness before ordering, because a narrow plate still needs a minimum face to sit on. Sand and heat degrade fingerprint reads on any capacitive sensor, so we enrol two fingers per person and set a PIN as well.
